On the night of August 21st, 1968 I was on duty at an American Army listening station near the Czech boarder, and not far from Karlovy Vary, as the Russian tanks rolled into Czechoslovakia. Our outstation could see and hear the tanks. We felt so badly for the Czech people, but could do nothing to help. I always wanted to visit and finally had my chance. Karlovy Vary and the Czech Republic was everything I hoped it would be and more. The Grand Pupp was wonderful. All the staff was excellent. I especially enjoyed the young people learning their jobs in the breakfast room. The room was above our expectations. My wife loved the spa area.

The hotel really impressed us with its location, architecture, and interiors. It’s a stunning place with a cosy feel and a real sense of old-world charm. Our room was large and quiet, overlooking the park—not as flashy as a river or city view, but definitely more peaceful. The staff were extremely welcoming and went out of their way to help with whatever we needed. The location is just perfect, right at the start of the riverside promenade. It’s super convenient—you step out and within a couple of paces, you're in the middle of the tourist area. Breakfast was great with lots of variety. We also had dinner at the hotel restaurant and it was memorable. The food was excellent, beautifully presented, and the atmosphere was just right.

it just did not feel like a Grand Hotel. Most of the things which are not tied to the building and the long history of the hotel felt rather mediocre. The breakfast, the menu in the restaurant. We found the service was lacking everywhere; the staff seemed clumsy, unsure, and unfriendly.

Don't get me wrong. We sincerely enjoyed our stay in Carlsbad and in this hotel. Especially as the prices were fair. The location, the Spa everything made it an enjoyable stay. But...

Second stay at the hotel, but in the Riverside part. Absolutely perfect, very comfortable bed, sofa in the room, cleanliness. Beautiful scent of cosmetics. Swimming pool, sauna, salt cave available. Next time I must try the treatments offered at the Spa. Delicious breakfast. Very nice and helpful lady at the reception.

The staff were not overly friendly & we were told we weren’t allowed to dine in the main restaurant due to my husband not wearing a suit. We were well dressed considering it was FREEZING outside and as a hotel guest that has spent a lot of money I would expect that I would have access to the restaurant.

The room was very spacious and clean. Great spa facilities with a massive indoor spa/ pool area.

I had already visited Karlovy Vary for a day trip years ago and I decided if I ever came back I would stay in the Grand Hotel Pupp. The hotel did not let me down, on the contrary, I was even more surprised with the structure of the hotel, the nice and helpful staff, the large and confortable room with a balcony overlooking the river. The breakfast was also unforgetable! Even if the hotel is traditional, I enjoyed the modern twist in some of it (such as the pool and the restaurant).

The regular rooms has not a beautiful architecture and decoration seems pretty basic if we compare to the hotel it self. But I can say my room had a great size.

Perfect Hotel. The staff is impeccable. The breakfast is great, and the entire atmosphere from the hall till restaurants, breakfast area and wellness center, are very pleasant, elegant and luxurious. Definitely you feel like a queen /king☺️

Morning coffee - even though they have Nespresso coffee, you just get a mini cup so latte macchiato or flat white is impossible to get and the swimming pool was too cold.

No food after 22:30 except bar snacks e.g. almonds, olives, last cheese platter. We have arrived after 22:30. Unable to use Spa on the day of leaving. View from window was a platform full of buckets left from building work.

The hotel is beautiful and located in the perfect location to walk to all the sites, shops, and restaurants. We went to celebrate my daughter, and they were able to set up a surprise Pupp Cake presentation after dinner. The service was impeccable, and the food (dinner and breakfast) was delicious and suitable for all dietary needs.

I didn’t realize i had booked the “defendant” thinking that was a room name but it is actually across the street and not connected to the Grand Pupp. It was amazing but my whole point was to stay at the Grand Pupp so they should tell you this is not in the hotel but across the street
