Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BelgiumThey didn’t respond to the questions I sent via email in advance of our stay, even when I translated them to German. The curtains were white so they let a lot of light in and the pillows were horrible, totally flat!
Clean, nice specious room with enclosed patio area and parking (at additional cost). Good breakfast with plenty of choices served until 10:30. Dog friendly although we didn’t have our dog with us.

GermanyThere was absolutely no one to check us in and our key was waiting for us on the desk as we arrived. We had a few questions about the facilities, as well as breakfast times / check out procedure, etc. but were unable to find anyone at all on the night we arrived and when we wrote via the chat we received a response first the next morning...Our room was also a more classic 'German' bed with two mattresses and two single duvets, with a gap between the two mattresses. Now I must say, the duvets were feather duvets and the cleanliness and quality of the bed were fantastic (we slept very well)...However, if you were planning a romantic trip and wanted to cuddle with your partner this is not the ideal set-up for that. Again, maybe there were other rooms with a more classic double bed we could have switched to, but as no one was there we couldn't ask... Despite this, we do think we would come again!
The hotel itself was utterly stunning. The attention to detail in the room and across the entire property with elements of modern and era-appropriate furniture and art was truly beautiful. The breakfast array in the morning of (I believe) locally sourced meats and cheeses were delicious and we REALLY loved the 'lunch bags' you could make. A very nice touch. We also thought the property seemed very clean and well cared for throughout.

Netherlandsthe hotel/facilities are split into different buildings within a certain perimeter (like they have a compound). we need to walk and cross the street to go to the main building for breakfast. breakfast is ok, but could be better given that they claim they are 4 stars. parking needs to be reserved but it was very difficult - so need to wait for available praking on street. bed was not comfortable
it was spacious

GermanyVery strange artwork. Lots of paintings of men grabbing women's breasts and disected dolls with underwear. Very uncomfortable for us as travellers with children. Beds and pillows were not particularly comfortable. One of the cups in the bathroom was dirty with toothpaste upon arrival and towel rack was falling off the wall. Keys were left on the desk with instructions to our room, but no one was at the desk when we arrived. We had a hard time following the German instructions to one of our rooms. Wifi connected for my husband but not for me. Roomservice listed, but restaurant was a completely separate building from the hotel.
Very friendly helpful staff when staff was present.

United KingdomThey don’t care at all. Once they have your money pre paying they don’t care if you arrive or if you are okay or not. we couldn’t arrive at the first night kept trying to phone them no answer for a long time then eventually someone picked it up and was pretty rude. Next day yet again I was keep phoning them to say we will be a bit later than expected due to traffic and wanted to make sure we can get food still no answer, when we arrived it was like a ghost town they left a message in German even tho they knew fine well we don’t speak German. yes, we were in Germany however wherever we went in Europe they at least tried to communicate with us. this place didn’t care at all. We had two young children and they were aware of that , no food served at 8.15 PM absolutely shocking. We were residents. We own a place ourselves at a very popular tourist area in Scotland and if my chefs would ever say that they don’t feed residents at that time I would get rid of them straight away! The only place and people that were extremely nice to us and fed us was the Thai restaurant down the road the other so called German restaurant ( that apparently meant to be so good) hardly wanted to even see us! Just says it all. The apartment that we got was just weird. I attach pictures, you need very good skills to be able to cook and possibly need to have extremely long arms to be able to reach the pots once you put them on. Sofa bed broken couldn’t sleep on it. The owners seems to own the majority of this village and thinking the world of themselves instead of realising that they live off the tourists. Go to Boppard I know it’s a bit further but you will get a customer service. These guys are possibly still living in the 1940s . true story we got the feeling of it! scary….
the place was on route for us pretty much that’s all we liked
