Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GibraltarThe options for breakfast were poor compared with vegan options in other hotels. They could at least offer vegan sausauges, and at the egg counter scrambled tofu would be easy to make. We even had to search for the soya milk. Hubby was told that some dairy milk was soya one morning. I don't know why they didn't have the soya milk readily available as on other hotels. There was hardly any room around the sink to put our things. The shower leaked on the floor each time it was used. There was no heating in the room, just cold air. I was told by the receptionist that it wasn't winter yet. It was November. There was no "do not disturb" sign and the cleaners were knocking on our door while we were in the room. The reception area of our hotel was closed and we were directed to used the receptions of one of the other hotels. One of the lampshades was broken and had been "repaired" with sticky tape. The door handle to the balcony was lose. Toilet seat was lose.
We paid for a better room, with a view of the sea, so there were plenty of space. The bathroom had a bath and a separate shower, so we used the bath to put our things in. I went down to reception to say that the heating wasn't working and an hour later someone brought us up a heater. The complex of the three hotels is lovely and spacious.

United KingdomThe bathroom lacked a fitted bidet which for a superior room would have expected one to have been fitted. The rather antiquated contraption that was installed was a poor substitute and maybe not as hygienic.
Breakfast was good. The room was a bit tired looking. The location is very good (excellent).

United KingdomBecause the hotel is part of a group of hotels, the 'adults recommended' part of this hotel is pretty irrelevant. The restaurant is full of kids, as this is shared. Families can access all the same pools, entertainment areas etc. It is a shame that they don't keep one of the pools as 'adult only' - this would be a good feature. The worst part that also seems a bit cheeky, was that we had children staying in the room next to ours, as half of the corridor was technically one of the other hotels, which allows children! As I said, this made the whole experience very much not child-free.
The staff were super friendly and helpful. The resort is lovely and clean. There are several hotels grouped together in a little resort area. If you stay in any of them, you have access to three pools with surrounding loungers/umbrellas etc. The pools are all fairly small and the loungers can get busy but we did find two every day we wanted to. The resort is good at not letting people 'reserve' sun loungers. Towels are free to hire from the hotel (as long as you don't lose the towel card, in which case there would be a charge). We were very impressed with the check-out process - you can securely store your luggage, continue to use the facilities for the day and they even give you FREE access to a room for half an hour, so that you can shower/change etc before leaving. We thought that was brilliant. The luggage storage and access to facilities is also available on check-in, if you arrive earlier than check-in time. The room and bathroom was lovely, clean and comfortable. We had a bath and shower, with handwash, shower gel, shampoo/conditioner in one and toothbrush/toothpaste kits included. The buffet food was really good. Great selection of fruit at breakfast. We both eat gluten free and there were a good number of available options. The breakfast had a separate GF toaster and selection of GF goods (bread, muffins, cereals, biscuits). You could also order GF pancakes at breakfast, made to order, which were lovely! At dinner/lunch, there was a menu of gluten free options (pictured), which are prepared separately and to order, which means there is a short wait for the food. We ordered some of these. The Tuna Dumplings were amazing and the pizza was very good too! We ordered the chicken croquettes, which were lovely, except a few of them were not cooked properly and were still cold inside, which was a shame. The waitress was very apologetic when we explained this and offered to get us more.

We liked the clean adult pool. We liked the choice of restaurants and the food choices were excellent. The hotel was close to the beach and was quiet at night.

LatviaWe have twice informed the hotel that we are just married couple having honeymoon before our arrival. We got neither response and no any reactions. Sad. No fish and olives for breakfast for ten days.
The hotel has a great location near the sea, very clean, cleaning was performed every morning, towels changed, floor washed. Breakfast was very good, a lot of different food offered and unlimited cava - great. 9 swimming pools were available, very clean and well serviced. Animation and evening performances were good as well.

Netherlandsnothing, really. You can have your lunch and/or dinner there at 12 euros per person per day if you book that for the whole stay but it is nicer to discover the beach restaurants and bodegas in the old town rather than eating from buffets all the time.
Very pleasant hotel with excellent facilities and located just across from the beach. There are plenty of pools and sun beds so that it does not feel crowded. Breakfast serves everything you may desire. The room was pleasant, great big bed, and a balcony (I recommend a room with ocean view) Staff was very helpful. Sol Melia is a complex of 3 hotels, Don Marco is the smallest, calmest and closest to the sea ('adults only'). Although this was low season, there were a fair number of buses offloading tourists, and I can imagine that the premises can get pretty full in the summertime.

United KingdomWasn’t given the Cava on arrival as offered when booked, the shower didn’t work had to report the issue to get it fixed, had to ask about the safe should be offered at reception on book in, there was no kettle tea or coffee in the room first off until the shower was fixed bottle of water was only given once with the whole stay, bathroom water isn’t the best for guests to drink but fridge was given with some soft drinks & beer once but would have to pay to refill which we accepted but water should be offered daily as a kettle was there however had to keep asking for tea & coffee & powdered milk to be replaced but wasn’t done voluntarily ended up buying some from the local shop very poor to expect guest to do that you don’t have to do that in UK hotels on the whole though room was nice

United KingdomThe food and facilities in the restaurant could have been improved slightly. Particularly the gluten free choices. There was cereal, bread and muffins left out at breakfast with a separate toaster which was great, but there was nothing at lunch or dinner which was so disappointing. There wasn't many items that didn't contain gluten/wheat so we had to go out to eat dinner. Cutlery, butter etc at gluten free section in the mornings would be good as there were the other side of the room. There are not enough sun loungers as people are reserving them then disappearing all day, would be good if this was more closely monitored.
Loved the hotel, was far better than I expected. Didn't know until we arrived that we could use the pools and restaurants in all three hotels on site. Bed was really big and really comfortable. Room was spacious. Breakfast wasn't on too early like most other places. Location was perfect. Room was cleaned everyday, bed changed, fresh towels, cleaners were brilliant. Would definitely recommend staying here.
