Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustriaThe room - considered to be sufficient for two - was a bit on the tiny side. The interior - apart from the huge bed - consisted of a very small secretaire and a small refigerator.
The whole affaire is - probably - from the 1950 or so - but well kept. It has the charme of a combination of Finca/old english countryhouse and ship cabin style. The bathroom was top modern. Breakfast was laid out lavishly - the place to dig in has got the style and charme of a 1960 train buffet (actually none at all). The bed was huge.... The POOOOL!!!!!! Small, but well kept and highly convenient.

United KingdomNo parking. We were told by a staff member that the area past the railway and to the right was free - we left a car there for two days and found two parking fines when we returned
Room, breakfast and service all good. I liked the extra touch of the lemonade in the reception area.

United KingdomI had no issues to complain about.
This hotel, for the price, in Sitges, is SUPERB! The staff were amazing all the time. The room was basic but clean and comfortable. Yes, it could do with an update to the decor but that would come with an update in the price. If you wanted to find fault in the decor you could, but if you just relax and enjoy the space you are in....id return without a doubt.

SpainThey could improve the quaility of the breakfast, the croissants were hard, the fruit was unripe and the quality overall was a bit low.
The location is very good, in the town center and near the train station. The swiming pool is very nice, definitely a plus. The rooms are ok, probably a bit better of what you can expect for a 1 star hotel.

This was a great location in Sitges and very handy to the train station. Excellent breakfast with plenty of variety. Public car parking about 5 minutes away @ €3.60pd. Rooms are basic but had everything we needed with a good bathroom. Special mention to Richard on reception who was so helpful on our arrival. El Cid over-delivered for us.

CanadaBUT the room was very dated and basic and had no bedside lamps or even plugs next to the bed. My plane was cancelled so I arrived only in time for one night but was still charged for two nights. I had already sent emails in advance to warn both Booking.com and the hotel that I would miss the first night, so I at least expected some discount - but nothing?
Very convenient to the train and bus stations. Excellent buffet breakfast with huge selection of food. Clean modern bathrooms and good deck for the attic rooms.

KazakhstanI really liked the hotel. Nice location close to everything train station , castle, beach and supermarkets and restaurants . Super friendly and helpful staff at the reception and restaurant . Nice breakfast with different food and various drinks. Have a pool area . “-“ But… Hotel is really old , and since it’s old it doesn’t feel fresh . When someone on your floor is closing door of their room , your bed is jumping up from from the clap of their door. Also I found that you can hear everything that is happening around and can not sleep well. I think can be solution if management of hotel will add devise which can close doors soft. Attaching to r this review .

IrelandThe room was by the lift, noise was intrusive at night. The door hung oddly so there was a lot of light filtering through at night time. We feel out love affair with the El Cid might be over😔
Have always loved the Cid, visiting over 20 years. Value for money and great town centre location.
