Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsMy room was 644, a nice spacious room. But the reading bedlamp right of the bed. Even switched off, it kept on in a dimmed way. Most disturbing was the constant noise of the ventilation, and that the outside shutters stayed closed.

PolandNot much, however 3 points: a) I got a Genius2 discount, it happens to me for a second time, that I got a "3rd category room", low floor, close to the lift, worn out (visible damages) or noise... b) I've been in Scandinavia many times, usually in Scanadic hotels, however this time the every day amount of vegatables and the way of exposition (jars with a limited possibility to take them out) ware dissappointing. c) invoice (quite significant detail during a business trip) approach reviled the management line. On the question about that refering to the data delivered throw booking.com: first receptionist lost her smile and started to ignore my questions, second one (much better!) was under traning so he tried hard and it was great, third one "senior" or so, answer the need to the fullest. Bottom line: I'm considering stop using booking.com.
Many things: good hotel standard - Scandic is a respectful brand, that walks the talk. Quisine, food and restaurant are good, especially here friendly staff wanting to answer the needs. The idea to reserve a table for a meal by QR - code is innovative and useful. The greatest highlight is a very nice, well managed and convininet conference centre, I was using the venue for 2 days with 40/50 people - with my 20 years of experience (both organising and client sides) I may evaluate: great job Guys! Thank you. The Social area in the lobby with a billiard table, piano and other was great for informal networking. Plus, I was lucky to stay during the hotel's birthday - decorations, extra fruit bar and attractions during that were very nice! Thank you!

SwedenNothing on Booking refered to the Relaxed area being closed- that was a big dissapointment. The room was a bit to warm and no device in the room to change the temperature. There was a fan in the closet…. Seemed a bit poor in This Price range. Rent a bike from the hotel was expensive, so we rented the ”Donkey” bikes instead. Better to offer the guests a free bike to get to town..
We loved the area - Sluseholmen, with all the canals! We rented bikes to get to town. Good size of the room and nice, Big Windows. Good breakfast.

Netherlands1. The rooms on the front of the hotel are quite noisy because there is a very busy road on that side. Once you shut your window you don't hear anything but if you like to sleep with windows open you should ask for rooms on the back of the hotel. 2. In the information it said there was subway access but there is no subway near the hotel. However, there is a bus going into town (bus 7A), busstation only a few minutes away from the hotel. Coming back with bus 7A is a longer way as it does not take the same route back. 3. In the room we missed a small water cooker. This was only meant for the more expensive rooms, not for the standard rooms. So when you come back after a long day in the city you can not make a cup of tea or coffee in your room, instead you have to go down to buy something from a machine for 34 kronen (quite expensive for a cup of hot water). It would add to my guest satisfaction if you would put a small water cooker in all the rooms.
The breakfast was very good, fresh homemade food, good supply of everything. Rooms were clean. Staff very friendly. I liked the fact that they offered the possibility to book housekeeping so not every day somebody comes into your room.

AustraliaIt was very basic and disappointing that we couldn’t even boil a kettle in our room. We think that should be bare minimum for anything above a hostel. Especially when we have to pay the same price for a tea bag and hot water as we do for a machine coffee.

The hotel is clean, breakfast is good and there is free parking in front of the building. Rooms aren't cleaned daily by default but this can be requested at the front desk. The staff will go out of their way to help. Last time we stayed in a more expensive hotel with more stars down town; the cheaper Scandic turns out to be the better option.
