Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe service could have been much warmer from the hotel and restaurant staff. The bar staff were friendly and so was the blonde woman with the short hair at breakfast, she was lovely. Everything else was quite passive and we felt like we weren't welcome. One of the men in the restaurant didn't acknowledge me when I spoke on two occasions to order, but acknowledged my friend. It was odd.
The location was great, it is directly across the road from Aviemore train station and it's on the same street as the main shops. I love the tartan in the lobby/stairs and the stained glass windows. Graeme who plays the accordion was wonderful to watch.

United KingdomIn the restaurant if felt a bit rushed - but again it was pretty busy, especially in the evenings.
the location in the town is super, the period & style of the hotel is lovely. Staff were all friendly & efficient. Very good & hearty breakfasts. Room was ample sized, reasonably quiet (we were right beside a fire door in the corridor that some people let bang shut). Very good hot water power shower. Great bar. Ample off road parking.

United KingdomThe information that there are no ground floor bedrooms, no separate showers and no lifts should be more prominent in Booking.com. The hotel is geared towards the more active customers. The fact there are no suitable facilities for older or less mobile customers was an issue. All showers are ‘over bath’, as I found out after paying for our booking. Ours had a fixed shower screen instead of a curtain making it impossible to access. There was no response from senior management for a change of room. I understand that it is an old hotel not equipped with lifts and very busy but a response of any kind would have been good customer service. Proximity to the station was the prime reason for our choice and being aware of the hotel issues would have booked elsewhere.
The food was very acceptable. The room was very clean, a bit chilly but a request for a heater was followed up immediately. We had a quiet room with an outlook to the front of the hotel. The waitresses were friendly and attentive.

United KingdomWe paid extra for a room that was not above the hotel's own bar as we were travelling with our newborn baby. However, the room we were given was to the side of the hotel where it appeared that a party was taking place in the field next door so we couldn't open the window on what was a very hot evening without hearing loud music and people talking, etc. This prevented us from sleeping.
I liked the central location and the traditional appearance of the hotel. The restaurant was extremely busy but we were still accommodated after a relatively long drive to the hotel, which was much appreciated.

United KingdomUnable as guests to book a table for dinner. Was on a first come first serve basis. Found that a bit strange for a busy hotel with guests🙈
Breakfast was continental as we had to leave early. A good choice with tea, coffee and toast available also.

United KingdomThe receptionist wasn't very welcoming, given they were the 'face of the Hotel' on arrival Due to the restaurant being very popular, the business of the staff meant they often came across as impatient as a consequence Residents not given priority for dinner reservations

FranceBreakfast was not good with not enough variety; staff in the restaurant seemed stressed and not organized, tables were dirty during the breakfast; wifi signal was weak in my room; water pressure was not enough; reception staff depended on the person with some warm and some cold and busy. No luggage storage room.
Amazing location and interior, tasty Scottish cuisine in the restaurant (dinner and lunch) with generous portions, good bedding, my room was clean.
