Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe radiators were filthy dirty! There were no dishwasher tablets… a dish cloth, or tea towel. There was no Parasol for the patio table. The weather was sunny/hot, so having a parasol would have helped with protection from the sun. The gas for the BBQ was empty, so we needed to call to get this replaced. The 3rd bedroom was tiny, leaving absolutely no space to move around. Only 1 toilet roll in the bathroom and ensuite for 6 adults wasn’t enough. We all wanted a treatment such as a massage, but they were fully booked… we were absolutely gutted! as the whole point of staying at a spar resort was to enjoy a treatment. I wonder how many more guests were disappointed by this. On the Saturday, we wanted to go swimming and use the steam room before having our evening meal. However, the pool closes at 5pm.. 8pm would have been a better time to close, especially for Adults wanting to use the facilities. On the day of departure, when we did eventually use the steam room and the sauna, they weren’t hot enough to enjoy… very disappointing. The Sunday roast dinner is expensive considering the portion size is small… more potatoes and vegetables would have made a difference.
We liked the jacuzzi, the kitchen and lounge area. We enjoyed the pool, steam room.

United KingdomWe arrived a bit early and thought we would see if either of the lodges would be available a bit earlier. I suggest you don’t do this. Neither lodge was ready at 4pm! One lodge was ready at 4.20pm and the other about 5pm! We were told it was due to staff shortages due to sickness. Not a great start for our weekend break. In one lodge - the kitchen window venetian blinds had the wand to turn the blinds missing. In both lodges - we had to retrieve phones from the side of the sofas and there was sharp metal exposed which resulted in a cut in one case. Quite dangerous really. The sofas are definitely getting worn. Having said that we would go there again.
We booked 2 lodges. One was higher up and had a nice view over a green and the other was more secluded. Both were nice. They were a good layout and really comfortable. The facilities are good. We ate at the restaurant both nights. Service and food were good. Cheddar Gorge and the shops, restaurants, coffee shops etc are close by and within easy walking distance and definitely worth a visit. We walked from the site to Cheddar Gorge which was ok on the Saturday and Sunday but on the Friday there seemed to be a continuous flow of huge lorries going to and from the quarries on the main road near the site. I assume it must be like this on all weekdays.

United KingdomThe baby highchair in the lodge wasn't suitable for the age of baby. He was 6 months old at this time and sitting in high chairs generally. He actually slid completely underneath the table and needed a rescue. The high chairs in the restaurant are much more suitable and should be in the lodges also

United KingdomThe steep hill to the property was not brilliant in the rain and would not be accessible to someone with mobility issues. There was wires hanging from the wall by the tv, on arrival the hot tub was over flowing onto the balcony very slippery (quickly sorted once reported to reception) there was also a slight infestation of lady birds from somewhere. Overall an ok stay.
Property had everything we needed, was warm comfortable, perfect little get away. Brilliant staff and facilities, shop on site was also responsible priced for essentials. Close to cheddar gorge.

Clean site and all areas well maintained. Very good Wi-Fi network... Leisure facilities were good when open. Gym was very good. Easy access everything you could need in the lodge would come again.

GermanyThe only issue we can possibly mention is the drive-in procedure. Nowadays, most resorts/hotels/b&b facilities have installed a system to register the car license plate so that the barrier opens automatically. At Cheddar Woods, we had to get out of the car and phone the reception first before the gate was opened.
We very much enjoyed our stay at Cheddar Woods and we were pleasantly surprised not only by the quiet location of the resort but also by the size and quality of the lodge. Upon our arrival, the weather wasn't at its best with gail forced wind and plenty of rain. However, as soon as we stepped into the lodge we couldn't hear anything of the storm anymore.

United KingdomThe only issue we found is at night you have to have the main lights on in the van. We were playing a board game it would have been nice to have a lamp in the living area. As the unit with lights in it were quite dark. That's the only negative

United KingdomWhen we initially booked, we tried to cancel and the property outright refused. If you try and call the helpline, you get put through to a directory that offers no help. Beware that when booking! The on-site facilities are a bit small and need expanding. We could never get in the pool as it was always really full and the arcade area always had teens and kids in it, so we could never use the bowling machine or snooker table. I’d also say the on-site shop is very limited. I have coeliac disease and there was very little that was gf. You really need a Freeform corner for dietary issues.
Exceptionally clean, convenient location and free parking. Checkin was straightforward and the site was secure.
