How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Cracked basin in first room (223). Poor wifi in room.
Nice pool and spa bath, steam room when working. Very good breakfast, plenty of choice in hot and cold option. Pleasant grounds.

The steam room and sauna were out of order and the floor around the pool is unusually slippy! Jacuzzi needs some foam treatment. The bar menu is a little underwhelming. However, that is because I was trying to eat healthy, and the menu doesn't really have a healthy option. The food is good, just not diet friendly!
Great value for money. Very clean. Friendly staff, every person I spoke to was helpful and friendly.

Breakfast seemed expensive
Very nice hotel: rooms cleam comfortable and, most importantly quiet - enabling me to get a good night's sleep (travelling for work). Bar and restaurant looked nice, although didn't go. Plenty of parking.

I didn't have breakfast because it seemed quite expensive.
Hotel is set in its own pleasant grounds and consists of a grand main house and then some rooms in a more modern wing, which was where I stayed. Most importantly, since I was travelling for work, the hotel was quiet and enabled me to get a good night's sleep. Room was very clean and comfortable and had a small desk which one could work at. Normally the hotel is quite pricey but I got a good deal with booking.com and would recommend highly at the price I paid.

The dinner menu is the same every night. Disappointed that the spa was in a separate building and the sauna was out of use

The fact workers staying there were allowed to eat their takeaway meals in bar area, lowers the tone of a pleasant environment. Should be eaten in their room if they order outside food.

We stay here 2 or 3 times a year. It's convenient for shopping, football or cruising in Southampton and does what it says on the tin - you have a comfortable bed, a decent breakfast and the staff are generally excellent.

The shower water pressure is slow and the water connection goes off for a few seconds after 5 minutes. Complimentary toiletteries and coffee was meant for a single person and not double. Limited food choices from the restaurant.
The environment of the hotel is fantastic aspecially the garden and the reserved forest. It feels like in the woods. We went for an evening walk around the woods and captured beautiful photos of the nature. The interior decoration is also awesome. Feels like in a palace. Staff were friendly. Excessive parking and easy access for food and convenience store. The room was cozy and comfortable.

Although there are many hotel options, we booked this hotel just for its pool and spa, but they said it was not open and we could not use it. On the booking page, it was written that it was open all season, this detail was important to us, we made our holiday plan accordingly, it was a disappointment for us.

Minor issue - there was no electrical charging point for cars.
Lovely grounds and restaurant/bar area. Staff were friendly and helpful. Little children's goodie bag on arrival was a great bonus (and very useful for meal times)! Restaurant food was tasty.

More teabags and milk should be in the room. 2 teabags not enough for two people. The bacon is a little dried out. The toaster doesn't toast properly. You have to put bread through twice.
Bed was comfortable. Staff very friendly. Some rooms have a lovely outlook. Plentiful breakfast.
