Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThin floors above a nightclub sound system, so you may checkin to silence, but the room will rattle until 2am. No exaggeration. Stained sheets, stained pillows, dust, unpresentable, filthy carpets, random rubbish under the bed, broken window pane covered with masking tape—it’s all the bare minimum
Immediately in city centre, iron and ironing board…

United KingdomThe bar downstairs was loud and audible throughout the whole hotel (we had a room on the 1st and top floor) and doesn't close till 1am (it is a nice bar, lovely cocktails) but don't expect an early night without noise cancelling earphones. Rooms could do with some TLC aesthetic-wise but does the job. Also worth mentioning lots of stairs, don't recommend if you have issues with that. One of the door handles came off in one of the rooms, it went back on, but that shouldn't have happened.
The location was great, opposite a spoons and has a little off-license right below it that's open till late so not a problem there. For the money we paid it was a soft bed and a warm room the staff were really nice and helpful getting to the rooms which actually had AC which was a nice surprise so that'd be good in the summer. Showers and pressure were good, were hot when you told them to be which you don't always get in hotels. If you're just visiting for the night and want to go out on the Oxford town highly recommend it for the money, does the job.

United Kingdomlong stairway up to reception. 3 long metal bannisters on the right were falling off the wall. All three of them. Had I leant on the them without seeing the damage, I could easily have fallen down 20 stairs. I think this is seriously dangerous and should be reported to the authorities. If one was slightly loose - OK. All three were coming of the wall and one bannister - a metal tube 10 ft long was waving about in the air, not attached at either end but by one screw in the middle. I'd be terrified if anyone less stable than me stayed there. This was the only way into and out of the hotel.
Location - very central

United Kingdomwe were put in a first floor room which was right above the bar attached to the hotel and there was incredibly loud music playing until 1.30am then people singing and shouting outside the hotel for another half an hour. We were there to sightsee and had a pregnant friend with us so this wasn’t ideal as none of us got a good nights sleep.

GermanyThe hotel is in urgent need of a renovation and in very poor conditions. Our room, especially the carpet smelled like an ashtray. The window frame was rotting (literally). The heater was just barely hanging on the wall and fell flat on my foot. The excellent attention of the staff couldn't cover the deficiencies of the building.
You can't beat the location. The hotel is located not further than 200 mts from the bus station and on a walking distance from the train station and every amenity in Oxford. The personnel were extremely nice and accommodating. They kept our bags safely while we were out before our check-in and even after the check-out. The bathroom and linens were also very clean.

United KingdomThe room was cramped and tired, the mattress was as hard as a brick and the pillows were lumpy, neither of us slept very well. The wardrobe was in front of the window, which was open and we were unable to close it, so had no use coming from the street throughout the night.
The bathroom was fairly good and both the bathroom and bedroom were clean.

United KingdomVery tired interior. Wallpaper coming off the walls, bathroom window didn’t open and had no blinds. The shower was also terrible (shower tray was plastic so it warped when you stood on it, and the flow rate was very low).
Good central location but a very busy street for nightlife so not the quietest. Staff were friendly and helpful when we got there, but I called ahead and asked for the nearest car park to the hotel, and they directed me to the Park & Ride which is 4 miles away. I asked again and he confirmed that was the closest. In the end a quick Google found the Worcester St car park barely 50 metres away…

AustraliaThe property had changed its name to Oxobar and Hotel, which we were unaware of, so it was hard to locate it. The noise from the street meant we didn’t have a restful sleep. The bathroom hadn’t been properly cleaned from previous guests. The stairs leading up to the reception were dirty. The only parking was at an area not far away and it cost us £39 to park the car overnight. When we rang them to find out where the Hotel was, we were told to use Park and Ride, being from overseas we had no idea where this was and weren’t given any directions as to how to get there.
The close proximity to Oxford University and sites around central Oxford. A good sized room. The bed was comfortable.

United KingdomThe toilet seat was too small for the toilet. The decor was dated. The TV had no remote control rendering it useless. The noise for the bar was intrusive. The key to the door didn't work and the 24 hour help was non-existent. I could access my room when I first checked in as it was on the latch so I was unaware that the key didn't work. On the second night, coming back late from a work event the key wouldn't turn in the lock. No-one was on the reception door, the two emergency numbers didn't work, the RING doorbell wasn't answered by anyone and I was left locked out for over half an hour. In the end I had to go into the bar downstairs to find someone who worked there.
The bathroom was clean.
