How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The room got a little hot and stuffy at times.
The location was excellent, we were able to walk easily to all the places we wanted to visit during our trip. A clean and comfortable hotel.

Breakfast was not great - no ham and cheese, jam out of a big tub with a plastic spoon...
Ok for a night's stay in Edinburgh's old town, but nothing to write home about. Clean room, no view, had to fill in forms with address and passport details on arrival which doesn't happen much nowadays...

The bed was a bit small and we had an adjoining room to a family with small children who woke up early. We were on a break without our children but that's the luck of the draw.
Room was a good size, nice bathroom and staff great. Everywhere very clean and convenient location. Comfy pillows and luggage storage if you arrive early.

Coffee could've been better. Hotel needs a service elevator so that employees/staff don't use the same elevator as guests. Shower's water pressure could've been a bit stronger. Need to lower the hand soap and shampoo bottles so that a normal person can get soap/shampoo out of the bottle. These are just recommendations. My stay was great and I would stay here if visiting again!
Location of the hotel was great. Breakfast staff was super, super helpful and kind. Room was clean and comfortable. All staff was very friendly and helpful.

Felt for health and safety there should have been shower mat in shower cubicle. Because small eater would have liked small crusty rolls for breakfast.
Very clean, organised and fit for purpose. Minimalist. Easy to get a taxi. Helpful staff. Comfortable bed. Ample breakfast. Decent tv to watch the news.

Breakfast is quite poor, the sofa bed was quite narrow for 2 persons, the bathroom has only a certain for shower, so all the water was on the floor, smell of dust in the room

The shower had curtains and it was a bit messy after use. Also, the water pressure was low
Good location and quiet place being close to city Centre. Breakfast was great. They put us on a bigger room to accommodate three people on the same room.

Breakfast could be improved. We stayed with the Holiday Inn Express in other cities and the choice and quality of food felt somewhat better.
Great location, only couple of minutes from the high street and royal mile. Basic but pleasant. Neat and comfortable rooms.

The location was great for us and central enough for walking around the centre of Edinburgh. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was surprisingly good. We were a family of three - 1 adult and two older teenagers so with the sofa bed being used the space in the room was limited but better than expected.

Nothing really.
The location and accessibility. The vicinity to Royal Mile was very convenient. A few hood restaurants close by away from Royal Mile - Ciao Roma suggested by Priya at the reception desk was very good. The hotel was very clean. The room was small, but comfortable. We were three of us and the hotel had opened up the soda bed. There should be good space without it. The bathroom was well appointed and clean and modern. Breakfast is basic - cereals, juices, yogurt, coffee machine, scrambled eggs, baked beans, bacon, sausage, toasts, muffins, croissants. There’s plenty to start the day right. A shout out to Priya at the front desk for a good check-in and check-out experience, suggestions for restaurants, etc.
