I appreciate there is an upgrade going on as room was a bit tired and faded . Having a balcony overlooking the Xmas market made up for it

Just the rooms were, let’s say, worn.

The staff were amazing. The restaurant and breakfast were five star. The room lets the place down but I believe they are fixing them up soon x

The room sink wouldn't drain, toilet took a long time to flush, we couldn't get booked in to the restaurant for a tea time meal. Room decor wasn't worth the price paid for the room

Being right where the market was

There was no fridge in the rooms and heating wasn’t the best but no major complaints.

They recently refurbished the property so it was great! Graig the porter was so helpful during our stay and check out.

The toilet/ bathroom area was somewhat dated and could do with an upgrade In addition I have joint pains and the hard mattress didn’t help that and it meant that I didn’t sleep very well

Then, location and view of the castle were very good

Not worth £288 for 1 night stay, payed for ‘privilege’ room however the bathroom was not up to standard, there was also lack of plugs around the room. Just felt like it shouldn’t have been classed as privilege as the photos on the website looked so much different with done up bathrooms which ours wasn’t

Excellent location for Edinburgh Christmas markets , amazing hotel views and breakfast was lovely , staff very friendly

Had to change room. Second room had been renovated but work needs done, crack on tiles in bathroom, paint touchups, needs better pillows, alot of dust in radiator. Beds very firm. Key card for lift was temperamental key card for the lift and room stopped working the morning of checkout member of cleaning staff had to let us in the room after breakfast.

The location right in the centre, shower very good and very good room size with tea/ coffee facilities.

We were a bit disappointed with the room. It was very tired and we requested to change. The new room had been refurbished and was much better, however, it was very noisy with reconstruction going on in other rooms . Not as good as previous years.

Location was very good. The bar and restaurant were excellent.

In the evening we went into the bar for a few drinks, my granddaughter will only eat certain foods due to her autism and she had brought her crisps with her. Initially nothing was said about this as she sat with them beside her, it was only when she had finished eating and put container on the table that the waiter stated that foods could not be consumed in the bar. He didn’t wait for an explanation.

We were changed from classic family to privilege when I explained my granddaughter loved looking at the lights at the market

The room I was in (652) was very dated and had cracks in the wallpaper on the ceiling, where the seams were coming apart, looking quite scruffy. I felt like I was back in the 70's with regards to the room decor. However, albeit unsightly, the room was clean and the bed relatively comfortable. I believe some of the rooms have recently been refurbished, but mine evidently wasn't.

The hotel is in a prime location on Princess Street, as central as it get in Edinburgh. It was also just around the corner from the office I was visiting, The staff were friendly and welcoming. The dining/lounge area was nice, with good views towards the castle and the hustle and bustle of the street below. Breakfast choices were good and well cooked and well presented. I felt the price was reasonable.
