Fab Hotel in a Rural location on the riverbank.

Mattress was way to firm for us and we didn't get a great night's sleep and some areas of the hotel would benefit from modernisation, although the room itself was up to date. (I refer to corridors, staircases and bathroom being tired] but, it was clean and tidy which is the most important thing. It's worth noting that at the time of our visit some decorating works were being undertaken so the hotel management may already be addressing these aspects.

Great hotel in a wonderful location right on the riverbank. Very friendly staff and great food.

    Nothing I dind't like.

Staff very attentive. Restaurant food was excellent. Open fire in bar area provides great, relaxed seating experience. Very dog friendly, treats, bowl and sleep mat provided in the room. Room / ensuite very clean and comfortable. Electric vehicle charging a great bonus and very convenient for exploring local area. Great location with lots to explore in the local area.

Dogs. Neighbours left a dog in their room , and it was howling. On the other side of the hotel a dog could be heard barking , as left in room. Dogs barking in the restaurant . Maybe Dogs can be in the bar , but not the restaurant for me. Room was quite small , Internet wouldn't work , as our devices said it wasn't safe. Wouldn't stay again , mostly because of people not being responsible for their Dogs, they insist on bringing.bathroom light went off about 10 seconds after entering . Don't know why !

    Location, food , lovely staff

The receptionist Angel was not very helpful on arrival, a smile goes a long way, and even though hotel states ALL rooms dog friendly I didn’t find out that the room I booked wasn’t dog friendly until my arrival and my daughter had to take my dog which was a 13 year old westie who occasionally takes fits in with her, so not the most ideal situation . I was told by the receptionist I should have read the hotel confirmation from them, even though their own website states the same? So if they knew I had a dog, put me in a dog friendly room, and not the room I booked which I thought was a dog friendly room. We had 4 rooms booked 3 of us had dogs. Shower cubical was very narrow, so if your of a larger size it would be difficult to get in and close the door, let alone bend down to retrieve your shower gel. However I would book to stay there again having learnt a valuable lesson to not trust what is advertised and speak to someone from the hotel, then it would not have caused the stress to the start of our family get together for my dads surprise birthday.

Breakfast ok but was over priced for what there was, cold coffee on the first morning as the urn wasn’t working properly, then cold temperature of the water for tea on the second morning, breakfast was late in coming out and served on a very cold plate. Manager and waiting staff were all lovely and very attentive and cleaning staff also kept the rooms clean and tidy. Evening meals on both nights were lovely. Good water pressure and temperature in the shower. Bed comfortably and room warm.

We stayed for two nights, but the room was not cleaned after our first night. Beds were not made or towels changed which we would except when staying in a hotel. Bar area is very small

Breakfast and cleanliness wasn't great the bathroom walls were all streaky. Bathroom floor was lifting up at shower not great if your in your bare feet

Breakfast wasn't great. Fresh fruit consisted of an oranges and apples. Banana on first day was brown and there was only 1. We were there 4 nights and got a banana once.

Breakfast was good but occassionaly felt a little rushed as the hot food order was taken and served quickly not allowing time for cereal/ fruit etc.

The staff were all friendly and helpful. The room was clean and tidy. The food was great with a varied menu catering for most. The 1920s lift was quirky but lovely to see it in working order.
