Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):

United KingdomVery poor flow of water in the shower - barely adequate. No plug in the wash basin, making wet shaving difficult. Mirror above the wash basin was very low, again making shaving difficult. No tooth mug for rinsing after brushing teeth. Bed was OK, but the mattress was definitely past its 'best by' date, and needed to be replaced. Steep, narrow staircase between the second and third floor.
Very helpful staff. Everything in the room was clean and in working order. Two decent towels provided. Tea and coffee-making facilities provided, including an adequate number of milk pots (lots of places don't supply enough). No noise. Very convenient for Earls Court Underground station.

SwitzerlandThe toilet facilities are a bit old and not in the best condition anymore, but sufficient for our stay.
We were a school class traveling with students and teachers. The staff at the hotel were very friendly, forthcoming and helped us to organise the best possible room situation, for which we were very thankful! The hotel is in close proximity to restaurants, cafés and the next tube stop is also only a few minutes away. We would definitely book the hotel again.

The hotel is in lovely neighbourhood with Vicorian terraced houses, close to the tube. Next to it there is a very good breakfast spot with British food, a nice pub where you can eat and chill in the evening. There was an electric kettle and a lot of tea, coffee, biscuits and even milk in the room. Fresh towels and toiletries. Free wi-fi. You can charge your phone via USB slot.

IrelandOnly point of contentiousness for cleanliness was the kettle which was visibly dirty on the inside. The bathroom adjacent to it had mild mold damage on the ceiling but certainly not as bad as previous reviews suggest and far from a health hazard. The shower temperature was either extremely hot or cold, no in between. Must be said however that the toilet and shower area itself were fairly clean given they are common areas. The stairs and general reception area were dated but nothing major.
To be honest, I was surprised given some of the reviews. Having read the previous comments, I was expecting to stay in a dirty, mold infested prison. However, to be honest, this was not my experience. Our room was a triple room on the third and top floor and was actually very clean. No visible mold in the room. The sheets were fresh. Bizarrely there was a sink present but given there was no private bathroom, that was actually quite useful. The heating functioned almost too well and the room was toasty, which is nice in winter. The guys at reception were actually really nice. Unlike previous commenters have suggested, we were allowed to leave our bags when checking out and the staff at reception could speak English. Also, regarding the smell other comments complained about. I would consider my sense of smell very good and would say the entrance had a light scent of cigarettes but hardly anything major as other commenters suggested. Would I recommend this hotel? Depends on the person, but this is perfectly serviceable for a stay of a few nights in my opinion.

South AfricaVERY steep staircase between 3 and 4th floors. Do not bring luggage if you book in here. Backpack tyope of bag is best. NOT good for bags with wheels. The first two or three flights of stairs were okay.
Check in was okay although the hotel was unattended and locked prior to lunchtime and I could not drop my bags, Room had shower and toilet although postage stamp sized. Was clean enough.

For being the cheapest hotel in london it was really okay, and it wasn't dirty and the bed was good. There were fresh linen on it and there was a towel and coffee supplies available.
