Only fault was asked payed for a double bed and it was 2 single beds pushed together. So when you go to cuddle partner not comfortable along the middle bed.

Our mattress wasn’t very comfortable and would recommend replacing . Our room detais stated mini bar but there wasn’t one . Staffing was an issue . Unfortinately the older woman who took our breakfast order forgot to bring it and by time we found some to ask what happened we had to go . No offer of refund for breakfast was made just apologies . I think orders should be taken using a piece of paper or ipad etc and not trying to remeber what the customer asked .

We had booked two rooms, after the grandeur of the rooms downstairs, we found our bedroom was dissapointing small and the shower room needed some tlc. Window overlooked the roof of the marquee no view of the grounds. Other room similar but had lovely views of the rear garden.

Took bar snack of brie and cranberry panini - plenty of cranberry but I would have needed a microscope to see the brie, let alone taste it. However, breakfast on both mornings excellent as usual.

I’ve stayed in 4 star + hotels which didn’t have the service & even the comfort level of this hotel. It’s a lovely building, super clean, the service was great, with great communication from reception, they helped booked taxi’s late at night, they were happy to go the extra mile & a plus was having gluten free options for guests food wise. Great value for money, felt like a 4star+ hotel. Decor is in a dated style but is not dated itself, room wasn’t old or tired in any way.

Some of the fixtures and fittings are a little bit tired but didn’t detract from the stay. The shower curtain probably needed to be replaced as it was mouldy on the bottom but that was really the only thing we could fault.

Lovely property with a very elegant feel to it. The staff were amazing - so friendly and helpful and nothing too much trouble. They serve light snacks if you don’t want to go out for dinner which were tasty and beautifully presented. You can also get a takeaway and they are happy to provide the crockery and cutlery for you. Breakfast was lovely and you could order any combination off the menu.

Only one minor annoyance happened and it was essentially my fault - cleaning staff knocks on your door each day to ask for permission to clean the room. I never needed or wanted cleaning the room, but I couldn't find one of those "do not disturb" signs to hang on the door. At the end I told this to the staff and they said I should have mentioned it, because they apparently do have those signs and they could have told cleaning staff to never knock on my door.

I've never faced that level of care from staff before. The breakfast menu isn't big, but it doesn't need to be - I ate the same thing for days and I found it very good each time.

Being picky, but, having toast racks would make a worthwhile difference. Crisp toast much better than limp toast, and such a small investment.
