    The room

The room was awful, large puddle outside of room made it difficult to get through to main building. The staff were lovely.

This property is in dire need of an upgrade into the 21st century. It is very tired and is basically as I remember it 40 years ago

I wasn’t happy about staying in the annex. Hot water ran out half way through my shower. No soap in dispenser. Even spoke to receptionist but nothing happened. Felt like a shed rather than a chalet. When we had hot water was working in morning, it was fine. Warm enough overnight. One Single bed was really uncomfortable.

Because of the location of the hotel in a valley the mobile signal wasn't very good so a strong stable Wifi connection for communicating is a must. Wifi was patchy at best form my room and did not always work / allow connections.

As always the accommodation at the Royal hotel was excellent. the Room was comfy, clean and tidy and quiet. The staff were superb and the breakfast was excellent. The food in the Restaurant was competitively priced and the location excellent as a stop over for work purposes.

The general areas were run down. The bed was a not a standard double size. My husband is 6ft and his feet stuck out the bottom. The windows didn’t close properly and were very draughty, the radiator in the bedroom didn’t work. The curtains were too short and let a lot of light in. We were only given 1x bath towel. We booked breakfast for 9.30am but we were not on the reservation list.

The rooms were a bit dated and required to be refurbished. There was wallpaper hanging off the wall and sweet papers down the back of the bedside drawers from a previous occupier

The floorboards creaked quite dramatically! As did the bed. The hotel had seen better days. A bit frayed in paintwork around window ledges.

The staff in the afternoon and evening, were trying hard, but there seemed to be a staff shortage. Same girl on Reception, in bar, waitressing. Only one woman in housekeeping. They were doing a great job, but there needed to be more staff. Breakfast was well staffed though.

It’s a lovely old hotel just feel small cosmetic touches could make it bit more appealing. Bar area could do with some nice lighting and light in windows to attract more customers etc. New carpet renewed in breakfast room but its grey pile which will not last and cheapens the place a bit. Keeping it traditional too without making it to modern.

Great location near everything in Dunkeld with lovely local walks. Great that it’s dog friendly. Staff very helpful and friendly. Breakfast very good.

The breakfast room was quite dusty and needed a thorough clean. Breakfast was ok but not very hot. The chips for day 1 dinner were returned.Muffin on day 2 wasn't toasted for egg Benedict. Really small cups which meant you were going back and forward to the urn. Teapots would have been better.

Room was cosy. Bed really comfortable. Room was clean. The dining room was nice and well decorated. Reception staff really nice and helpful. There was some decorating being done.

The family room we had stayed in had black mould around shower and all over shower head. (We did not use this when we seen it). Windows were cracked and the broken drainpipe outside the toon was constantly pouring water onto discarded tarpaulins on roof which we could hear all night. Curtains damp and mouldy alongside lamps covered in dust.

Friendly staff upon arrival and throughout our stay. Parking facilities were great as the town was busy.

Our room was in the Kabin at the back of the hotel. It was comfy and clean. Unfortunately we were woken up during the night by people next door who were drunk and loud (swearing lots). They had lost their key and took a while to find it - over an hour constantly loud and using fowl language. This is the one thing that spoilt our stay.

The food was excellent and tasty. We did have to wait a while for our meals but this had been explained to us when we arrived in the dining room. We found the beds to be very comfortable.
