The fact there wasn't a full length mirror in our room

Our room was a good size but was metres from the dining room on the ground floor. We were slightly concerned about noise in the evening but it was actually fine and didn’t hear anything from the pub.

Staff were very welcoming and we utilised the offer of paying a small fee to access the spa facilities at the local hotel which was an excellent addition. Dinner and breakfast were delicious and everything was very comfortable.

Very quaint hotel, lovely grounds but a bit too wet to explore this time around. It was a busy hotel with lots of comings and goings, staff were really friendly and food was also good. Good choice for breakfast also. Really enjoyed our stay. Plenty parking also.

Some of the staff seemed a bit rude/ like we were interrupting them from a task when we asked a simple question regarding our reservation and tables for dinner one night. This was only some of the staff most of them were very nice.

The lighting in the room was really dark even with the curtains open. The bathroom had a smell like blocked drains.

The dog friendly accommodation was separate to the pub. Very dog friendly pub staff were great with me and my dog.

Room- Wrong room on arrival - no bed for our daughter (which should have been bunk beds). Quickly made up the sofa bed to rectify this. Hair grip on bed/leaves on floor/water glasses left on sofa - we were unsure if they had been cleaned. Food - My husband’s ‘Thai’ meal was Chinese chicken and not Thai and bland in flavour. The cheesecake was not a cheesecake, more like mousse on top of unset biscuit.

Lovely room overall. Great location. Superb breakfast and lovely, welcoming staff. Good - my venison was amazing and the breakfast was superb.

Unfortunately the room above ours was extremely noisy, you could hear every footstep and conversation.

Right at the base of the fell with a path from our door. The main building has 2 bars, one being the original lots of character.

The noise from the room upstairs did prevent us from sleeping for about an hour. Turn the heating down before you go to bed, it was very hot with the heating on when sleeping ( but this is my fault not the hotel).

The room was very nice, clean and comfortable. The food was very good and nice bar to have a drink. Checking in was very easy and quick. The gardens outside were well kept nice to sit in. The view from our room (25) was excellent. I would stay here again.

The staff standing round at breakfast, but you still had to order your cooked breakfast at the bar, rather than the staff taking your order.

No waitress service at dinner. Hated getting up and queuing at the bar for drinks, then food, then water, leaving my guest at the table each time Used to be a great fine-dining restaurant. Sadly no longer

We really enjoyed the food and the menu included dishes which aren’t commonly seen, it was nice to try new foods and the food was perfect however we thought the prices were a bit high, the food was averagely priced however alcohol was very expensive and we also had breakfast in the morning included in our booking, for the price of the breakfast we thought the portions were a bit small. Would love to come back however may not eat/drink on site again due to high prices

We loved the location of the property and the rooms were lovely, small but definitely enough space for 2 of us with a small dog. The staff were lovely when we needed to move rooms due to bringing our dog and we were close to the fire exit to let the dog out during the night if needed.

The only thing was it was extremely warm both in the dining area and the bedrooms and was unable to reduce the heat!

The place is well frequented, but seems slightly understaffed. This could imply that the employees are being let down by their employer in an attempt to maximise profit.

The staff was very friendly and committed. The Snug Bar is a great place to chill out.
