Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomOur stay was comfortable from the first moment till the last. The owners were absolutely brilliant, very helpful and welcoming. Good size of room, amazing size of the bathroom, comfortable bed, mini fridge, slippers, house coat, comfortable chairs, plenty of coat-hangers, little treats, numbers of different sized towels and many more extra things let us feel like at home. Enough parking space, position out of the main road, but close to it, pretty close sea side and different supermarkets made our stay even better. Breakfast was delicious. I don't think I would cook better for myself)))) Good choice and good quality of ingredients. I would definitely recommend that B&B to anyone who is going to Birkenhead. If any time we decide to come there again with no doubt I would choose again to stay in 2 The Rocklands.

Hosts were very attentive, helpful and friendly. Breakfast was superb. Perfect location for Liverpool or the ferry. Parking was great. Room had fridge, tea/coffee facilities with complimentary tray bakes, tv had smart options for viewing. Fantastic en-suite. Everything very clean and spotless.

United KingdomNothing. It was one of the best B and Bs we have stayed in. Our hosts were really helpful and took us in their car so that we could catch a ferry across to Liverpool. They also helped us find places we wanted to get to.
The breakfast was excellent. A good choice of fresh fruit salad, dried fruit compote, cereals and a number of cooked dishes which could be tailored to individual needs/ choices. Fresh fruit juice and a generous supply of tea or coffee. There was more than enough and made a special start to the day.Our host was on hand to chat if we wanted, and to suggest places to visit and deal with transport questions

United KingdomAs soon as I arrived, Simon was at the door to greet me. He helped with my bags and was so friendly and inviting. The Rocklands is a home from home, it is a lovely, relaxing place and I will definitely be returning. Simon and his wife are so friendly and even catered for my vegan diet. I really enjoyed my stay here and cannot recommend The Rocklands enough. The suite was beautiful and really clean, the bed was comfortable and I had an amazing nights sleep. This really is a great place to stay.

TurkeyRooms appear much larger in the photos as taken with a wide lens. Your room is quite small (but with a large bathroom) Old building with tight stairways. You’re not allowed to eat or order hot food in your room and this is not mentioned in the listing and informed by the owner only after booking. Iron is not available in the room and should be asked from the owner every time. Not the best location. If you don’t have a car you can expect 10-15 mins walking from the nearest shops or bus station. If you want more freedom and a regular hotel experience, you can easily find one in West Kirby for this price.

United KingdomThere wasn't much choice in good eating establishments within walking distance and no hot food was allowed in the bedrooms so ordering a takeaway was out.
Electric car charger was the main reason I went for this B&B. The standard of cleanliness was exceptional and the room was warm but with a thermostat on the radiator I could turn the heat down during the night and turn it up in the morning.

United KingdomNothing.
Simon and Sue are both delightful people and should be very proud of what they provide, including the “bloody lovelies”. The lounge attached to Room 1 was both appropriate and very comfortable; truly ‘home from home’. We will probably never have a reason to stay again but all ‘guest houses’ should be like 2 The Rocklands. A perfect location from which to explore the City of Liverpool and The Wirral, without the ‘noise’ of ‘the big city’. Well done. Vic & Maureen Jackson.
