Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing to report!
We had an excellent stay at the Mercantile. I really cannot fault it. Right in the heart of Dublin and a 2 minute walk from the Dublin express drop off stop at Wellington Quay and Temple Bar, plus other places such as Trinity College and Grafton Street a short stroll away. The staff were exceptional and so very helpful, nothing was a problem. Decor was beautiful and finished to a very high standard. We found out the hotel had only just recently reopened after extension refurbishment, and what a great job has been done. We were made to feel welcome from the very moment we walked through the door. Thank you to all the staff. The breakfast was exceptional, and we had dinner one of the nights, which again was lovely.

CanadaThe room was small and difficult to manoeuvre with two people.
Beautiful decor, super friendly and helpful staff -- really clean room, and a spacious bathroom with good water pressure. The location is fantastic for going around Dublin.

United StatesI wish the restaurant (or at least bar food) had been available later.
The property was very close to the Olympia, where I was seeing a show. A staff member on he Sunday night shift (male with a moustavhe) actually walked me to the theater. I was very afraid I would get lost and miss my friend’s show. He was my hero on Sunday night!

United StatesThere wasn't anything that I didn't like. The service and accommodations were amazing.
The location was fantastic! Within walking distance of all of the sites of interest in Dublin. The hotel has been newly remodeled. The meals were great and the staff was extremely helpful. We will definitely stay here again if we are in Dublin.

CanadaBreakfast is so-so. For the price, I expected the continental breakfast to have more selection.
The hotel is fairly quiet for Temple Bar. That was a surprise. It is also a large hotel with a lot of lounge/bar space, which is very nice.

Czech RepublicBreakfast was absolutely amazing, the room was tiny but adorable and the location is great too. The price is a bit higher, but prices in Dublin are higher for everything compared to Czechia of course. For business trip the stay at such hotel is very refreshing.

United StatesThe staff was amazing - SO helpful and with anything I asked for, they expeditiously did it for me. They were able to check me in before 6am with just a small fee, which I appreciated greatly. The whole staff made me feel so taken care of and welcomed! The rooms were perfectly European petite, but still ample space for one person - the bed was very cozy and so cutely decorated - there wasn't a ton of closet space, but I packed light enough for this short trip that that didn't matter. The bathroom was beautiful and shower products so lovely. The bar downstairs was fun at night, too, and I appreciated the extra room attached to the lobby where you could sit with your coffee or afternoon snacks you picked up and hang out. The location was unbeatable, so the price was worth it - a 4 minute walk to Temple Bar, 6 minute walk to Trinity College & Grafton St, right around the corner from the Molly Malone statue (convenient as tons of tours meet there). Other notable sites you can walk to are Guiness (25 min), Teelings/Jameson (21 min) - Kilmanheim Gaol you do need a cab or to get a hop on/off bus for, but overall it's a super walkable city & location.

United StatesLoved the facility overall though the room was quite small. We were fine for four days because we were always on the go (and we get along really well). That being said, it was a lovely stay and I would stay there again in a heartbeat!
Upon arrival we felt both welcomed and cared for. The building inside (and outside for that matter) was very attractive and the location was fabulous. Walking distance to the Temple Bar, Trinity College, The Gaiety Theater, and many options for restaurants. Staff was wonderful.

United KingdomThere was nothing we didn't like.
This was our first trip to Dublin on the 17th July 2025. The Mercantile Hotel was perfect for our stay and everything and I mean everything was exemplary. The hotel has recently been refurbished and it has been completed to a very high standard. The room we had was immaculate, comfy bed, good pillows and a great shower. The breakfast was lovely. The staff were all first class. The location of the hotel is perfect for all the attractions, restaurants and bars. We will definitely be back.

IrelandThe room is very tight. Just about fits a double bed. Fine for a one night stay but no longer.
Located in the heart of Dublin and very good value. The €22 breakfast is well worth it so don’t waste time looking for a cheaper option.
