Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Hong KongThis is not necessay but I wish wifi can be provided in each room but not only at the lobby's floor. I know this is very common in most of the Japanese Onsen hotel and I respect their approach.
The hotel is at a great location, which there is shuttle service provided from and to Nagasaki Station that you need to book in advance, where you can view the whole Nagasaki Port from your own room which is a fantastic view no matter in daytime or at night. The staff I met were all very nice and have all tried their very best to communicate with me in English in order to let me can enjoy the stay. And the room is large and comfortable enough to make you relax and sit back to watch the stunning sight. Both the buffet dinner and breakfast provided is very tasty and you can try the cuisine from sashimi to the Nagasaki local dishes. Need not to say you can even enjoy the view of Nagasaki Port during having hot spring at the outdoor onsen on the top floor. It really worths spending a night in Hotel Seifu if you visit Nagasaki.

AustraliaNo wifi in the room, only at the lobby, very inconvenient and inconceivable in this day and age. Very infrequent shuttle service means having to take a taxi from the train station.
Excellent dinner and breakfast buffet, beautifully presented and lots of choices. Beautiful outdoor onsen , lots of choices for Yukata.

United KingdomIt was all great
With beautiful city views from its best rooms and a top floor onsen, this hotel has a magical setting to relax and enjoy hot spring life in Nagasaki. The buffet dinners and breakfasts are impressive, with quality choices in a well-run restaurant. We also appreciated a voucher for drinks. A great experience, easy to travel to and from the city centre using the free shuttle bus.

FranceI assumed that a hotel being displayed on an international marketplace like Booking.com meant that is was somehow open to foreigners, and it's not what we experienced. The staff at check-in was not welcoming (nor speaking a word of English, but I'm French so I'm not shocked). I'd say the hotel has a style - from the 60s or 70s - and remains in this atmosphere. This hotel is adapted to big families (lots of Chinese/Taiwanese groups were present and seemed to have fun), not for us. Too bad we couldn't find out before.
The view on the bay is spectacular (location, location, location), from the morning to the sunset. Definitely that was the plus of this hotel.

SwitzerlandToo expensive for its value. Facilities slightly outdated. Dinner and breakfast were buffet self-service. Atmosphere of restaurant somewhat canteen-like. Food quality was okay but not worth the price. Place is rather far off the city center.

PolandThe only thing I didn't like was that I chose to stay there only for 1 day instead of a couple of days :)
I loved the location. The view from the open-air bath is almost as good as from Mount Inasayama. The hotel is about 3 km from Nagasaki Station, but we took a taxi, which was very reasonably priced. The breakfast was delicious with a wide variety of food. Finally, the staff was very friendly and helpful. I will definitely stay there again when I'm in Nagasaki.

NetherlandsPrice quality, amazing onsen experience with tons of food in the morning and evening. The bath is very nice and is large! For the price this might be one of the better stays in Nagasaki. But only if you have a car rental. If the dinner is to expensive, only take the breakfast. It is a wide variaty of food. The pictures shown on the page are for the dinner.

JapanStaff was generally polite, but did not help to explain things when I asked questions. Likely because my Japanese was not too good. Nonetheless, they did not give off an appearance of trying to help me. They just repeated their queries in Japanese with the same phrases. The clerks at the souvenir store were direct and unhelpful. The buffet staff were also direct and unhelpful. I also had my hotel slippers stolen while I was in the hot bath. I had to walk to my room in my bare feet. And the massage I had was overpriced and not too good in my opinion. I understand that I am not Japanese and that my language skills are not great, but I have stayed at many other places that did not speak English and they were very helpful without speaking English. My overall opinion is that this place was not a very pleasant place to stay - especially for the price. I would not recommend it to anybody.
The view was very nice, and the room was very large. The lobby was very nice and the souvenir store had most things I wanted. The bath excellent and pleasantly relaxing.
