AC was a bit loud because fan speed was not adjustable (no quiet mode).

Comfortable bed, spacious room, nice rooftop to see sunset and lightnings. Really friendly hosts.

The place far surpassed our expectations. We had a lovely balcony. The room was spacious. The location was fantastic for exploring and the people running the place were all charming and helpful. Would really recommend.

What a nice guest house! Located perfectly close to all the attractions and the best spot to enjoy the magnificent sunset. The owners are very friendly and nice. The room was clean, very modern and had all the amenities one would wish for. The price is more than fair. Can highly recommend, thanks for having me!

Excellent location - within the fort area and a short walk to all the main sights of Galle, nice views over green spaces and the ocean, a rooftop terrace with a good view of the sunset. A clean and spacious room with air con and fan. Beautiful home! We had the room with a terrace which was lovely. The place is run by such a kind family - we enjoyed chatting to the Grandfather and the Granddaughter.

The fact that we only there for 2 nights as we would have loved to stay longer if our itinerary would have aloud.

Our room was excellent, it was lovely having a seated roof terrace to have a drink overlooking the fort watching the sun go down. The owner & his staff were both really friendly & helpful. The location is fabulous, so close to everything. We loved it here.

Beautiful property, big rooms and high ceilings. Impeccably clean. Good value for the calibre of property. Great base for exploring the fort. Allowed us to drop bags prior to check in time. Breakfast isn’t included (which is clearly stated on booking.com), but after several weeks of travelling around Sri Lanka I had got used to breakfast being provided so I didn’t notice this when booking. Not a problem at all, but just something to be aware of. Loads of cafes nearby to eat at, albeit breakfast is quite expensive.

When paying for our stay, the owner had a different exchange rate compared to the one on google (that everyone has been using during our 3 weeks journey in sri lanka). When I questioned it, he told me that the one I showed him was wrong. We paid a little bit more,not a big deal.. but i found it annoying.

Beautiful location, in the center of the fort. Nice little room but with all the necessary. Well equipped. Fresh and comfortable. Rooftop terrace where you can watch the sunset was an added value. The staff allowed us to drop our bags before the checkin and after the checkout. very helpful. recommended.

Beautiful accommodation in a great location within the fort. I was only there 1 night, but I loved my room - it had nice ambience, a very comfortable bed, great shower & wonderful hosts. I would definitely recommend.

Nothing not to like about this great place to stay.

The location is great, inside the fort, close to places to eat and shop, in this picturesque neighbourhood. Also, great people watching from our balcony. Local cricket players. Easy walking distance for an early train.

The room I stayed in only had a ceiling fan (no A/C) which meant that it was quite hot, even at night. As the windows in my room had no bars and gave to the street and a wall that could potentially be climbed, I did not feel comfortable keeping them open at night to let some cool air in.

Great location within walking distance of the ramparts, restaurants, museums, and shops, friendly staff, clean and spacious room, and quiet at night.

Room is very clean and comfortable. Near the station, restaurants and beach, it’s easy to access anywhere in Galle. Hot water pressure is the best in Sri Lanka! And I can see beautiful sunset on the rooftop.

I only have good things to say!

This is a really exceptional place to stay - everything is perfect! We stayed in 2 different rooms and both were very clean and comfortable, with plenty of space and nice big windows with plenty of light. The photos and description in the listings are accurate so you know what you're getting. The rooms have been recently renovated so everything is in excellent condition. Although the weather was very rainy during our visit, there was no issue with the rooms feeling damp. The location is great - it's very quiet and peaceful, but only a few minutes walk to shops and restaurants, and right next to the walls where you can walk or watch the sunset. Look for the sea turtles at dusk from Clippenberg Bastion! The hosts live on site with their family, but the guest rooms are private and you can come and go without feeling like you're disturbing anyone. The hosts are absolutely wonderful - incredibly friendly, helpful and quick to reply to any messages. They really care about making sure guests have the best possible experience, we felt so welcomed and well cared for. They gave us lots of recommendations that made our time in Galle even better, and were able to arrange a reasonably priced and excellent driver for our onward transport. The accommodation is excellent value for money - we also stayed for one night in a much more expensive hotel (our plans changed at short notice and Fort de 19 didn't have a room available for all of our nights) and it wasn't nearly as nice as this one!
