Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaThe bungalow we stayed in was close to a club so it was very loud at night but I have a white noise app on my phone that helped.
Great location in the heart of Playa close to a grocery store/beach/restaurants, beautiful grounds, well-appointed bungalows, 2 resident cats that I loved!

United States of AmericaAs always in Mexico, beds are a little hard. Would be nice if property had in-house bar/ restaurant but given these are all around not necessary
Very clean, great location, good pool, reasonably priced. Staff very nice. Twin beds bigger than regular twin. Close to beach and hotel supplies beach chairs and umbrellas

DenmarkThe noise in cabin 121, don't book it if you like to sleep. A kind advice is to isolate the cabin more, because I know we are not the only ones to complain about it. And if your customers write in advance to ask specifically about this, then be honest instead of hoping that we don't notice - this specifically almost costed you a star in my review. The only thing making up for it, was your staff's flexibility and great customer service.
Apart from the first night where we didn't get to sleep because of the insane karaoke from a nearby bar, everything was more than perfect. When we asked to get another room, we were upgraded to a huge and very beautiful flat with a gorgeous view over the garden and the cute (and very clean) little pool. We actually loved the little cabin we had booked, on our first day we saw lots of wildlife from the veranda, but the noise unfortunately killed the vibe. The flat however was completely silent and we all loved it. It had plenty of everything we needed, very thorough cleaning everyday and the balcony was also huge with two hammocks. The staff were all very kind and attentive, and really did everything possible for us to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Location was excellent, the beach was great and not overcrowded in general, the pool was clean and well-maintained and we saw a lot of different animals on our week of stay. I don't think there is a better place than this to be found in Playa del Carmen, would definitely chose to stay here again in future visits.

CanadaWe booked the morning we arrived and could not get the choice we wanted for a room. It would probably be fine for others. We missed not having a coffee maker or microwave in our room. The price reflected these negatives.
Loved the beautiful surroundings and privacy of the pool. Hotel was walking distance to a grocery store, the beach, many fantastic restaurants, and shopping . Our room was very inexpensive.

CanadaThe location is great - close to 5th Ave, stores, restaurants, and the beach. There is also a decent swimming pool in the hotel. The area is all like a big garden - very cozy.

Have no breakfast or coffee pot in the room. I would recommend to have at last a coffee ☕️ pot in the room or from desk.

AustraliaI loved everything about Riveria Maya Suites. The staff are really nice and super helpful. I arrived quite early and my room was not ready. However, I was super surprised and I felt very blessed when the reception upgraded me to a bungalow. The swimming pool is really lovely and secluded too. The location is fantastic and in easy walk to everything.

GermanyWell, if you really want to find something: its tropic and the room smelled a bit musty. Room was slightly dated but overall well maintained, everything worked well. The music from 5th ave. was hearable until around 1-2am but with earplugs it was fine. This is a general problem in the whole are and it wasnt that bad - the hotel is a bit around the corner and i found it okay! Besides it was nicely quiet, especially in the mornings.
Amazing staff. I had some credit card issues but staff was so friendly and mega helpful. We could solve my issues together and i had a wonderful stay! Drinking water available 24/7. Hot shower water! Close to the beach and everything is walkable. Amazong tropic garden and pool area!! (Bring Mosquito spray!)

United States of AmericaThe property is close to noisy Fifth Avenue. The music and noise is mostly quiet nightly by about 10:30 or 11:00pm. We did find we needed earplugs to muffle the noise on the weekend.
We love everything about this property. This was my second visit. The pool and grounds are beautiful and well-maintained and the area is safe and secure. I appreciate the daily housekeeping in this vacation apartment. The kitchen has all the basics needed for simple meal preparation. I love the fact that they provide a 5-gallon water dispenser and will replace the water bottle on demand. It is so nice not to have to buy and carry heavy water bottles from the store. The property location is convenient to everything: Fifth Avenue, the beach, restaurants, a good quality grocery store, spa, shopping, taxi stands, etc. All this is within approximately 0.1 mile from the property. This was my second year visiting this property and I plan to return every year.

United States of AmericaNothing to mention.
Great location right off Quinta Avenida and a very short walk to the beach. We stayed with young kids, 1, 3 & 10 and felt very safe and well looked after by the staff. They provide beach towels, umbrella and even had some buckets and spades for the kids to play at the beach. The apartment was bigger in real life, there were no issues with water pressure, hot water, quiet AC and wifi. It gave us the perfect base for our trip and made it special!

United States of AmericaIt can be very loud at night due to surrounding city/bar noise. It was cool enough that we didn't need to use our air conditioner, but unfortunately that made the outside noise more noticeable. No fault of the hotel - but I wouldn't go back to playa del carmen again. It has changed considerably since I first visited 25 years ago and even my last visit nine years ago. While I love the walkability of PDC, I'm not a big fan of the "free shots for big boobs" and shopping mall type of environment.
We stayed in a cabana, Loved the set up with porch, hammock and kitchenette. The grounds and pool were amazing. Very nice for an in-town experience, Close to everything and great french restaurant less than a block away, Staff were very welcoming and helpful.

United States of AmericaAt first we had a smell in our bungalow, but they took care of it immediately. I think that just comes with staying in a jungle like environment and a thatched roof.
Manuel at the front desk was so kind and helpful. We loved that they had chairs and umbrellas that we could take to the beach about 2 blocks away. Pool area and hot tub were beautiful

SwitzerlandWhile the property was nice, our room was lower profile (air condition old and blowing in the face, if stopped, too hot). A lot of noise from the nearby 5th avenue. So, ask for rooms looking towards garden (i.e. towards beach).
Close to the beach, nice own pool and rooftop areas

United States of AmericaNo breakfast available, but Fifth Avenue has many popular options. With the jungle setting come biting insects: make sure you're well sprayed with repellent. And finally, being Mexico, it wasn't entirely peaceful: inevitably construction was going on nearby, so on a couple of mornings the peace was shattered by trucks and diggers.
Cross the magic bridge to leave the hustle and bustle of Playa del Carmen's tourist strip and enter a haven of jungle, pools and hammocks. A sprawling property with various types of rooms looking out on to tropical trees echoing with the sound of bird life. My apartment was generously sized with a balcony and two hammocks, and the pool was a minute's walk along winding paths. A hot tub was alongside. The apartment included a kitchen, but it wasn't used: there's an endless selection of bars and restaurants on Fifth Avenue, just two minutes from the front door of the property. The beach is also close, but it was packed and I preferred to chill on my own balcony.
