How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Our room was a bit noisy. Every time the rooms either side or above us ran the water or flushed the toilet we could hear the pipes.
The location was perfect for us as we stayed so my girls could attend a concert at Spark Arena. Was great to have parking easily available.

The corridors were a bit old-school and open to the elements! A fifth floor room would not suit someone who has a bad head for heights!
The room was spacious, very clean and well equipped. We had a great view of the city centre and harbour. Gladstones restaurant provided a good evening meal and breakfast and the staff there were lovely.

Some areas need renovating. Eg carpets. Walkways lifts. Sometimes hard to get a parking spot when busy
Rooms were big and comfy. The buffet breakfast. Water views from the balcony. Close to shops etc. Excellent value for money. Good quality products in bathroom and kitchen for guest use.

The shower head moved when water was turned on and faced where you couldn’t stand under it… just needs a little fixing.
The staff were lovely and very accommodating. The location was good, very clean and comfy beds.

The room was clean and roomy and we had a kitchen .we had booked a one bedroom unit with a balcony and we were on the 5th floor, which gave us a great view to the city water front. The location is very good , handy to go everywhere , The staff were friendly and efficient, we would recommend this property and we would stay again ⁷ A great stay thanks

Was happy with everything. The shelves inside the fridge were broken or missing.
Clean and spacious rooms. Great to have daily house keeping. Comfortable bed and pillows. Nice bathroom with excellent shower pressure. Had everything we needed. Not noisy.

The window onto the deck needs attention - it blew out on opening. Second night managed to restrain it with a dressing gown cord so that we got some fresh air without a big draft ! One of the lifts was smelly on the sunday morning - obviously someone had been sick in it during the night. However housekeeping were responsive.
Enjoyed being on a higher floor (4th) and the excellent views. The bathroom was clean and modern.

Bright, spacious room with a huge bed, huge TV and expansive views of Auckland CBD and the inner harbour. Very comfortable and spotlessly clean - the shower pressure was great. Free onsite parking in such a central location is a big plus. Staff are professional and very helpful. Easy walking distance to Parnell Road with its shopping, art galleries and Link buses, as well as the Parnell Rose Garden and beautiful adjacent parks.

A stovetop in the kitchenette would be nice.
Suited our needs perfectly: a studio with a kitchenette and bathroom, not newly refurbed but very clean. Giant TV. Location is quiet and free onsite parking an added bonus. Staff were friendly and helpful. Appreciated the tub of washing powder available in the guest laundries. Overall, very good value.

Sure the facilities and decor show age (popcorn roof, older windows, bathroom decor, separate h/c taps in kitchen sink, sound insulation) - but it was quite homely and didn’t bother us. We only paid the price of a motel, so weren’t expecting 5 star hotel rooms.
We knew the south-facing wing was a separate building to the hotel, so had the right expectations that this would be more motel-like. Happy that there is lift access, air conditioning, large king bed, hotel-grade sheets/towels and cleanliness, and all the in room amenities. We only paid the price of a motel, so are very happy to get the location, on site restaurant, 24hr reception and all the other hotel services (just other than the building itself).
