A lift would have been useful as there were stairs to climb and we are no longer young. The map needed to be held on its side to understand where this hotel is situated. Rua Anjos is in two sections. It is located on the upper section which is roughly opposite Intendente Metro station. I do not have a smartphone-not everyone does.

Clean and tidy. Very helpful staff who helped us with a heavy case as there wasn't a lift. Staff were in attendance at reception until 8pm which was reassuring. Security was good so that people could not not just walk in and around. There were 3 communal bathrooms on our side of the hotel so we were well catered for.The provision of tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge was a bonus. Close to a wide variety of places to eat and the old town. For short stays this is a very good hotel.

We had a mirror, sink and bidet in the room, and shared the bathroom. The lighting in the room was not great, it would have been helpful to have a mirror light. Also, blinds didn't close properly. Only minor things really. The only other thing was a mouldy smell in the eating area.

Very central, clean and comfortable. Coffee and biscuits available for free in the morning. Stunning garden on the second floor!

Things seemed a little run down.

The rooms are reasonably large, but basically furnished and the bathroom was quite ample. No soap or glasses in the bathroom. We were grateful for the fan!

Insufficient basic amenities

The location of the place is central and convenient. The staff was friendly and helpful. Shortcomings are the insufficient basic amenities, such as no soap tray in the shower, no hook for clothes, no rail for towels and so on, making daily gestures awkward.

The reception’s staff was rude , did not show me the facilities and charge me for the late check in. Just on the last day I realised(saw) that was a kitchen behind the reception area. He was more worrying about let my friend taking my luggages to my room to the 4th floor and no lift.

It was quite a surprise as they have no lifts in the building. As we were allocated the highest floor, we have to lug our luggage up the stairs. Keep in mind, if you are senior citizens like us, you may have to ask for lower ground

We had the triple on the 3rd floor. The room was considered quite small for the 3 of us but it was very clean and they have shared bathroom on every floor. The WIFI is good

Rooms were clean, with an air conditioner that saved us in summer! Wi-Fi was also good, thank you!

You pay in advance by bank transfer which was a bit weird but no big deal. Parts of the neighborhood are not exactly salubrious, no breakfast facilities

Excellent value for money. Personnel was pleasant and efficient, very clean and close to the centre. I had low expectations but I was pleasantly surprised. Also very quiet and with a nice garden on the back

Difficult for seniors to navigate stairs to top floor.

Excellent location as metro very close by. Cafes and pastelerias nearly as well for quick breakfast or lunch. Extremely clean.

The room had a little humidity, the towels didn't really feel clean and you had to pay to change them. Also the toilet paper was the worse quality possible and there were no toiletries

We really liked the little yard they have, its a nice place to chill. The location was nice, not too into the center, but at the same time, not too far away! The room also had a cute window and they had cleaning service everyday

Reception was a like crummy for my taste. It could be lit better from the outside to make it easier to find late at night.

Very clean and well decorated. Very well situated. Close to metro station. Beautiful room and bathroom. Kitchen dining room free access with free available coffee and cookies, fridge, water boiler, table and chairs, microwave oven. Many restaurants around. Good security.

I didn’t like the 3rd floor -too many stairs w/ my luggage - and everything time going up and down. No bath in the room - only a shower.

It is very clean and close to the center 15’ walking.

My first room was nice enough (single room on top floor with shared bathroom), but I stayed on the second floor one night and the bathrooms were pretty bad on that level. The toilet seats are misaligned, so it's quite a challenge to sit without touching the dirty rim, and the showers were in need of a deep clean. Also there's no body wash in the showers, which is usually standard.

The location is fabulous! Right next to the metro and several nice restaurants and bars away from the hyper touristy area. The kitchen and fridge is a nice touch, and the staff is friendly as well.

Good location, close to subway. Very nice staff. Loved the backyard. Was able to walk to most things. Clean, bed made every day (not new sheets, but very nice anyway). The toilets were cleaned often. We were delighted!

You can hear all your neighbours. But thanks god they weren't noisy intentionally.

Good location, metro station is near. Also Lidl and Pingo Doce are near. Street is not very busy. Staff is friendly and check-in is easy to get.
