Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe kitchen was very slow at breakfast and dinner. In fact, at breakfast a couple who arrived after us was presented with food before us.
The breakfast was very good. Glad to know they made eggs for breakfast. But the kitchen was very slow at breakfast and dinner the night before.

FranceThe shower. I hate showers over bathtubs.
The location is not for everyone, but we loved it. It is isolated from the nearest villages, but the views more than compensate for that you're pretty much required to have dinner in their, very good (!), restaurant if you want to have glass or two of wine.

PortugalThe coffee machine: coffee tasted artificial, which is a pity in Portugal, where coffee is usually at its best and freshly brewed. Some of the options of the 3 course evening meal are quite pricey.
The quinta is situated at about 5 km from Pinhào, splendidly set on top of a hill with gorgeous views over the terraced vineyards. We were personally welcomed by the very friendly owner, us and our dog, our room was on the ground floor, large and comfortable. The grounds are lovely, provided perfect morning and evening walks for all of us. We didn't use the pool as it was off season. Breakfast is plentiful and included in the price of the room, with lactose free options, fresh orange juice, eggs, cheese and ham, pastries, corn flakes, lots to choose from. One can have dinner in the restaurant - book ahead of time and choose your options-, very well prepared and carefully served. The wine by the glass-both red and white- were good value and excellent. It is a perfect place from which to explore the surroundings without stress

United StatesCheckin and check out process was extremely manual and slow. Could be streamlined. Food was pricey for the quality. You are quite far (about 20 mins drive) from town, so they do have to get everything organized and onsite.
Location was beautiful, lovely view from our upstairs room, lots of outside space to enjoy wine, very quiet. The staff were extremely helpful and hard working, and despite being down some staff members, really took time to talk and help us out. Large and beautiful property. The drive out from Pinhoa was lovely. Pinhao was extremely busy and bustling, we were happy to be a little away from that in such a peaceful setting.

United StatesMy rating is only affected as we didn't have a car - so it was hard to get anywhere or to the town without a taxi which weren't that plentiful. Our host happily helped us arrange it each day. We also felt the beds and pillows were a bit stiff for us. Everything else was lovely.
The property was lovely and historic. It is a true working winery and farm. It's beautiful with an incredible setting and views - the pool area was gorgeous and a welcome experience on a hot day. The staff is so gracious and willing to help. We had one of the most comprehensive wine tours and tastings I've ever had from one of the owners.

United KingdomWe felt we were part of a household rather than being an anonymous guest. The location was very good (you have to be prepared to drive because it is in a remote location) with a swimming pool and garden. There is a restaurant on site so you do not need to go out in the evening.

CanadaThe distance from the nearest town, and the uncertainty of taxi availability, makes it difficult to dine off property in the evening. However, we chose to stay at the hotel for dinner, and the meals were good.
The setting of the hotel amongst vineyards and lemon trees was spectacular. It is a small hotel, so guests receive more personal attention than at larger hotels. The staff were welcoming and friendly.

South AfricaSwarms of bees at the pool area were a bit of a nuisance so having drinks there was challenging. Dinners there felt a little awkward although the food was delicious.
The location amongst the vineyards was amazing with incredible views. The pool area was lovely too. The Estates wines were delicious

CanadaGiven the location in the mountains, internet and tv is not always available. This is to be expected given its remoteness. Good for disconnecting.
We stayed for three nights. Breakfast was included and had lots of variety, including eggs. We had a wine tour and tasting on our first night and it was lovely. Take the opportunity to have the wine tasting when you can as it is not always available pending on staff capacity. Given its remoteness, reading by the pool and enjoying the view was perfect for a relaxing vacation. Had the table d'hote each night of our stay which was like a home cooked meal with a high end flair. Nice place owned by Portuguese family.

PortugalFor a wine estate in Douro it lacks any mention to wines, possibility of doing wine tastings or getting explanations, they never offered the possibility of trying their wine or buying it. We tried at dinner and it was pricey for guests in comparison to other places in Douro. Staff was very nice though
