Bar closes at 11pm. For a 24/7 serviced property this wasn't expected or welcomed. Visited a couple of other hotels for a nightcap & The Vine wins as best overall hotel.... but did have to seek a late night drink elsewhere

The room was very dark, didn’t like the decor or bathroom area although it was clean and the bed comfortable. Being in the city centre the view from the bedroom was of the adjacent apartment block.

Room was a little small but good value. Spa was small and quite limited. Rooftop pool was too cold to sit still in- not sure if this was because it was out of season. Roof top jacuzzi too cold to go in at all.

Overall ambience, comfortable bed, excellent shower, good customer service. Any negatives completely outweighed by INCREDIBLE breakfast- full English, continental, pancakes, fruit and help yourself to sparkling wine. Also great happy on the roof too bar

Great location and very stylish hotel. It has a spa and a lovely roof terrace with pool and bar. Also the restaurant is up there. Rooms very spacious and comfortable.

a bit of style over substance. No bedside tables, not enough plug sockets in the room. For a 5* hotel I would expect usb charging facilities inside and outside on the communal terraces.

Lighting. Gloomy corridors, and ridiculous lighting controls in the room. Bed-surround lighting illuminated randomly during the night and despite my best efforts, I couldn't disable it, so sleep was poor. Occasionally there was street noise late at night - not traffic, people shouting. Not a big problem. I thought it was rather petty to charge €1 for extra tea/coffee.

Everything else was fine. Staff and facilities were appropriate for this level of hotel. The rooftop pool was very nice. (Not great on windy days.) Shower room and excellent bath. Spa facilities good. Steam room very good. Large hot (warm) tub. Decent gym (not used)

Needed hooks in the shower for your towels and the lighting system was slightly annoying at times, sometimes it can be too clever! Nothing wrong with a few switches around, especially in the middle of the night!

Good location close to the restaurants and bars. The Terrace bar was a great place in early evening for a Happy Hour cocktail. Fantastic breakfast served in the hotel. The staff were all excellent and very helpful.

The bar was uncomfortable and lacked atmosphere. The rooms were dark and the lighting system very complicated. The bathroom was not private being opened out into the bedroom.

The breakfast was excellent. The staff were also excellent. The beds were very comfortable and the room was carefully looked after by the maid.

no privacy : open bathroom & toilet ( glass door ), switches for lights... just small electronic buttons, very confusing, hard to see (especially in the dark) ... too modern design! Floors (gravels) very nice but very noisy with the suitcases and very hard to keep clean - especially in bathrooms and toilets. Although, a gem... regarding cool architecture...

Some furniture in the rooms need a "fresh-up". Nothing more.

The location in the heart of Funchal is extraordinary. Best place to watch the amazing and stunning fireworks. Roof top bar and -pool, breakfast and service quality in all areas of the hotel are the highlights. A must stay. The Silvester Gala Menu was outstanding.
