Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomOne thing to note is the atmosphere is very much everyone to themselves and self-occupied. It’s not really a social hostel. There isn’t a strong promotion of group outdoor activity (which is a great way to break the ice) however, I did see an event poster for elephant mountain hiking tour.
The beds are big, super comfy with curtains for privacy, and the women’s bathroom was clean and convenient. There is shampoo and bodywash available and they offer you a towel for free. The lounge/living room was super spacious (with bean bags and even a video console) and there was also a kitchen to get some tea or cutlery. The reception team are also very lovely and willing to give you some great recommendations for places. The free breakfast is always appreciated but you’ll need to get there early!

GermanyNothing it was all good!
The location is ideal! Very close to the main station so you can go to the airport in one train directly. The staff were super friendly and the common areas are so beautiful and there is a lot of space to chill, work or do whatever you want. The breakfast was amazing, they had a special vegan option, which was delicious. Highly recommend.

Singapore-
I spent a night here in the female dorm and really enjoyed my stay. The check in process was smooth and the common areas were spacious. My room was clean and quiet and I appreciated having separate bathroom for females only. Breakfast was also lovely and as a solo traveller I did get the chance to chat with other travellers! Also really appreciated the map with recommendations for places to eat at and visit in the vicinity. I’d definitely want to come back.

GermanyThis hostel is one of a kind! You can’t compare it to any hostel you’ve ever stayed. There are dorms with shared bathrooms and private rooms with a bathroom inside the room. Everything is super clean! The common room is super creative with a small wooden house, nice chairs, many plants and a open kitchen. The breakfast was very good with vegan options and the staff was very friendly! The train station is super close and there are may restaurants and shops near by. We will definitely come back!

SwitzerlandThe breakfast on Thursday is mostly sugar and fat (toast with butter and sugar sprinkles). I really didn't want to start my day with that much sugar, and I think a more healthy option is feasible in a country that has some of the most amazing fresh fruit. The common areas are way too cold. And I believe it's not just me, since most people I've seen are wearing sweaters/long sleeves. Maybe 2 degrees less cold would be more comfortable and be better for the environment. A small towel in the bathroom would be nice. The size of the room is OK for one person, very cozy, but two people with luggage might struggle.
I really like the location, the facilities, some of the staff, the room.

GermanyOur two people private room was not too big and the bathroom cabin was open to the rest of the room with a sort of milky glass texture. It's not exactly see-through but you do "feel" somewhat exposed due to this setup. Not a deal-breaker but good to know nonetheless.
Great location, clean and friendly staff. Good English profieciency. Price is reasonable. 7-Eleven bascially next door and the next metro station exit is just a short walk away. Breakfast menu changes daily. Overall very good, would book again.

GermanyEvery second song in the lobby was the same.. don’t know if anyone else noticed but it got on my nerves 😂 also no window in the basic female dorm, but I guess that’s why it’s basic ;)
One of the best hostels I’ve stayed in so far. Nice Lobby, nice female dorms with a bathroom just for females. The breakfast was also very good :)

Star hostel was incredible. The hostel is conveniently located next to the main station, making it easy to get to and from the airport, and the MTR to key sights. The hostel itself is immaculate. A really great vibe. The staff are friendly and always willing to help. The included breakfast, which changes daily, is a perfect way to kick off your morning.
