How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

We found trash under the sofa. The suite only had one trash receptacle. Very slow to get hot water.
Good wine and cheese time. Good breakfast. Nice restaurants within walking distance.

A little close to the freeway, but double windows provide a good barrier.
The breakfasts and wine receptions are amazing. Beautiful setting on the water close to Sausalito and San Francisco.

Upon arrival there was no one at the front desk to greet us or check us in.
Boutique hotel feel. Location near the heart of Mill Valley on the water.

Our room was small for the duration of our visit. Other than that, I enjoyed everything about our stay.
Breakfast and location of breakfast were wonderful! There was a large variety of healthy food options and the coffee was delicious!

We stayed two nights. The staff is very friendly, cheerful, and helpful. The amenities are plentiful: excellent breakfast offerings, wine and cheese in the evening, bottled water, bikes, and more. And they do all of it well without cutting corners. We had a nice room with a water view. Even though the hotel is right off the 101, you wouldn’t know it once you’re settled in. Close to SF, beaches, Mt Tam, and more.

They only have coffee in the lobby, Not in the room. For us, the room has to have a coffee maker (and could use a microwave). It's a very inexpensive item for a hotel and a necessity for many guests
Excellent breakfast, excellent wine and cheese in the evening, and excellent warm cookies after the wine and cheese. One of the few places in that area where it has its own parking lot and you don't have to pay an outrageous daily fee for parking

Shower heads need to updated to rainfall. They had no pressure. Rugs in hallway on the ground floor to minimize noise in the morning.
Wine and cheese night and breakfast were both amazing!

I loved the location. The staff was outstanding with a special recognition of Pedro who kindly accommodated my request to have an interior room. All the little touches from the water station, to the wine hour, the late evening cookies and the wonderful breakfast buffet.

It would be even better if the hotel had its own restaurant. But la Piazza D’Angelo in town went beyond all our expectations! Otherwise everything was great 😊
The location only minutes from Mill Valley and within driving distance from Muir Woods. Walking distance from some restaurants. The staff was very friendly. We loved the fresh cookies and hot drinks that were provided every day. Hiking Muir Woods helped enhance that experience!

Noise from highway.

The beds were not exceptionally comfortable and there were ants in the room. The hotel coffee was less than desirable and there were no gluten free options for breakfast aside from fruit.
My kids loved the breakfast and the cookies and milk at night! The staff was very friendly and even provided the kids a teddy bear and chocolates for their birthday. We had a great view from our first floor room.

The room was a little small. We found a few hairs in the bathroom and some rust in the tub. Those were all small things compared to our whole trip.
The location is great. The amenities are superb! The staff is excellent! The lady who checked us in was beyond exceptional!! My wife and I both work in the hospitality industry. I am a sous chef and she is our banquet manager. Our place of employment is a small resort type. We would love to share our experience about Acqua Hotel to those that could help boost our company portfolio. We were truly grateful to have spent our time at Acqua.
