One of our cupboard drawers would not close and flapped fully open the whole time. I could hear people literally walking and conversing above me on second floor. Decor is very underwhelming. No water bottles provided. When checking in, the lady did not even look at me. A very cold welcome. In fact, not a welcome. Police came to a domestic dispute to one of the rooms which was not the hotels fault, but set the tone for our arrival. The room had a very clean smell of bleach in the bathroom. I’d say it was clean. Bed was not super comfortable, I’d give it a 5/10 for comfort.

Confusion on booking. Phoned motel on a Sunday and said we had a reservation for Tuesday to Friday and asked if we could have a downstair's room. Was told that our room was on 2nd floor but she would make the change. When we arrived on Tuesday she told me we were booked to arrive Monday and we were charged for Monday night ($184) and our reservation was canceled. I reminded her that I called and she did not mention that the booking began on Monday not Tuesday. I'm partially to blame, but I felt management was not at all understanding and just wanted their money. Reluctantly we did spend two nights.

There was no breakfast. The floors were filthy! We got into the tub and black came off our feet from walking barefoot. Not sure if it was the carpet or the bathroom floor. There was hardly any counter space. The rate was ridiculous for what we got.

Bed was super hard and uncomfortable! No breakfast or special touches of any kind. Checked in with a lady behind a little window. Very impersonal. Location was not close to restaurants or Pacific Grove downtown.

Didn’t love the fact that you couldn’t have a window open in the room. Room smelled a little stale. Bed wasn’t the best.

The greeting and check in process was brusque and distinctly unwelcoming. Outdoor stairs to 2nd floor room were slippery. Bathroom very dated, bathroom fan extremely noisy and ineffective

Location was convenient. Fireplace a nice extra on a rainy night. Beds were quite comfortable

The property was in need of repairs/updates. Front door needs painted, the floor needs replaced. It was peeling wood look linoleum. The water pressure in the shower was barely usable and the towels were so rough.

Room was comfortable, clean and quiet, just the way we like it. Good to have a shower and bath. We came to see the monarchs and were not disappointed. Sue recommendation Fishwife for dinner and it was excellent. A wonderful little trip!

The refrigerator hummed loudly all day and night; even when set at a medium temperature. The dimmer on the fan hummed as well. The armchair showed visible wear snd dirt on the arms.

The location was great- right across from Asilomar grounds and getting to the state beach was a quick walk. There was some traffic noise in the early evening, but it was quiet overnight. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable.

The worst hotel stay I have ever had. I did not sleep at all because the mattress was so firm it felt like I was sleeping on the cement. The pillows as well. I tossed and turned all night and ended up leaving very early I was so frustrated. There was no water pressure in the shower and the shower curtain did nothing to help avoid large amounts of water getting on the floor. The room was right next to office and smaller then what appeared online. I felt like I got the room no one wants, it was different then the others.I felt like the deal booking had going on was the reason. The rest of my visit to Pacific Grove was unfortunately ruined due to my no sleep and aching body.

The staff was friendly and they allowed dogs. I liked how it was close to beach , a nice walk.

I will definitely recommend deer Haven it was very nice it was quiet it was clean it was very nice I was really satisfied. When I travel out that way again I will definitely stay at deer Haven.

At the time of booking, patrons should be informed breakfast is not included due to covid. I would not have booked if I knew breakfast was not available.

Rooms are a little Smaller than expected. A little Worn. No frills. Nothing special about this place. I feel like it is overpriced but no real complaints otherwise.

Room was dirty; microwave was dirty with spilled coffee inside; We were overcharged as manager wouldn’t honor AAA price although it was confirmed by email; check in was slow and room wasn’t ready even though I called and was told early check in was ok; we arrived at 2:40 and check in time starts at 3:00pm. No breakfast available although featured. Bad coffee in room.

Continental breakfast was not happening due to Covid restrictions. Not Deer Haven's fault.

We were surprised at how quiet it was there. We couldn't hear any noises coming from the other rooms! Excellent. We were within 5 to 10 minutes from all the attractions we chose to see. Tidepools, Beach, Butterfly Sanctuary, Restaurants. It is really quiet and we loved that we were right across from Asilomar Conference Grounds. We had plenty of space to walk our dogs. There were deer there also! We really liked that Deer Haven is Dog Friendly!!
