How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

When we arrived there was no one there we had requested the room to have an extra bed made up prior to our arrival which wasn’t done and thankfully your receptionist made a huge effort to rectify this despite not being housekeeping. The hotel felt understaffed during the week.
The property was in a great location

They took a deposit from me and I still didn’t get it back , also there was an amount that was deducted from me claiming I used an item from the mini bar, even though I didn’t touch the minibar and I called them back and they returned it back into my account, that’s why I love a chain hotel they have standards

We did not pay extra for a park view and so found ourselves looking out onto the different sort of plant you find on the rooftops of city buildings. A bit disappointing. Room was still being made up at 7.45PM when we came back to the hotel on the first day. Ridiculous.
The twin room we had was spacious and well appointed. Staff provided us a good welcome. Great location on Rittenhouse Square. Very comfortable beds. Quiet room.

Shower was very small; rug was stained; pull out bed was mediocre; cleaning started great but fell off too quickly; most of the staff were great, but there were some exceptions.
Our meals were all wonderful from all those on the property. Restaurant staff were a pleasure to deal with. Size of our room was good. One gentleman at the reception desk was wonderful not sure of the name but wears a bow tie.

Our room was very warm and almost damp feeling. Hair in tub and stain on carpet near the couch. Both were off putting. The air system was just “hidden” by a board on the wall that had about a 2” gap so you could see dust and cobwebs etc. again, disappointing.
Location was great. Hotel staff were very friendly.

I was due for a Booking.com upgrade and was informed at check in that the room was an upgrade. Unfortunately since I know the hotel so well, when I saw the room I knew it wasn’t true. I have stayed in far better rooms many, many times in the past. Please don’t think you can fool me, that isn’t a nice thing to do to a long term customer.
Love this hotel, have stayed there fir over 30 years.

Drab decor in room. Very noisy air conditioning. Check-in described breakfast as “included”, when there was actually a limit to subsidy.
Great location overlooking lovely Rittenhouse Square. Friendly staff and good - if expensive - breakfast menu. Very comfortable bed.

Valet parking has always be the the weak part of the Rittenhouse service over the 10 years that I have been staying at the facility. Waiting 45 minutes for the car--particularly on check-out day- is not good. We understand staffing is an issue nowadays so are more forgiving on this trip. But I have been staying at the Rittenhouse for many years and the same issue existed pre-Covid. There must be a better system for accessing your car when leaving the property.

Staff at the Scarpetta restaurant were terrible. Ignored us at the bar, we left and went somewhere else.
Bathroom was nice, bed was comfortable.

Unfortunately we stayed on a Sunday so the hotels restaurants and library bar were closed. We were able to get breakfast the next morning and the atmosphere was lovely as well as the staff.
Everything from the upscale feel to the exceptional service. We received a welcome basket and 2 complimentary drinks. We travel a lot and I'm quite picky. This hotel does not disappoint! Nice park across the street with a selection of restaurants nearby. Treat yourself if you're traveling to Philly 😊
