Located in Matera, a 3-minute walk from Matera Cathedral, La Casa di Ele offers rooms with city views. This property is set a short distance from attractions such as Tramontano Castle. If I could give this place 11 stars I would! First of all the location is very convenient, because you are a few meters away to the new city (very convenient if you have a car since cars are not allowed in the Sassi area) but also very close to the central streets of Sassi. We stayed at the Suite - the most incredible room !! Very unique experience!! They have magically preserved the cave and many historic pieces inside all while making the room very modern and luxurious. The cave shower is an experience on its own! We stayed with a baby and we were super comfortable. The breakfast is top notch!! You can have homemade cakes, focaccia and jam all made from the owners mother, and Italian cheese and prosciutto and other things worth trying !! Erasmo, the owner is super friendly and overall a very welcoming person always smiling! He also gives some great information about the city and where to navigate which is super helpful!!

Casa Blanca Matera offers accommodation in Matera, at walking distance from the Sassi di Matera area, a UNESCO World Heritage site. WiFi is free throughout. Location, close to the sassi and downtown. Free parking in the street 2 blocks away. Friendly people.

Le Dimore Dell' Idris is situated in the Sassi area of Matera and offers individually furnished rooms with a private entrance and private bathroom with sensory shower. We had the most beautiful Cave Suite one can imagine. Good bed, good bathroom, everything very clean. The Lady at the Reception was very nice and helpful and gave good information for visiting Matera. Breakfast on the terrace was great. Matera is special, magical. It was a unique experience.

Set in a restored Tuff-stone building, Hydria Rooms is a guest house located in Matera, 60 metres from Sasso Barisano. Free WiFi is offered throughout the property. The room is beautiful and the location is truly amazing, just a few steps from the Sassi. The sauna and bath were wonderful after a rainy day. The lady at the reception was really helpful. I recommend bringing hiking shoes and exploring the Murgia. The apartment is located on a street that is within a ZTL, but just before that we managed to park our car on the street for €14 for 3 days. Also, don’t miss trying the traditional fried peppers – it’s an absolute must!

We recommend this place for an overnight stay before visiting the city, fantastic atmosphere, beautiful place and very nice owners. Nice rooms with a sense of taste. Delicious breakfast with local products. Everything you need.

Amazing stay here and did not want to leave! Lovely welcome on arrival explaining the hotel, the local area and showing us our former family home called ‘Pignattid’. The room was large, beautifully furnished and tranquil due to the natural soundproofing. A stylish bathroom and comfortable bed. Breakfast was fantastic with a tasty self-serve buffet all beautifully laid out in the bistro on-site. The view across the valley is fantastic and the hotel is an easy 15-minute walk from the railway station (albeit with lots of cobbles and some steps). The staff of the hotel and bistro were exceptionally helpful, friendly and personable. We spent half an hour chatting to Valentina in Reception after arriving back from our walk and Cristina organised our private tour with Alessio (recommended) and was quick to arrive when the safe got temporarily stuck.
