The breakfast was amazing! Delicious and plentiful! The view from our room was breath-taking. Our dinners (we treated ourselves to two) were exceptional and amazing. The second evening the chef changed up some selections for us which was very thoughtful. We also enjoyed the happy hour and playing some gamees together before dinner.

Staff was extremely friendly and able to fully correspond in English. Dinner and breakfast were both beautiful, unique and delicious. They really cater to making the most of the regional Tochigi cuisine and specialties. Room was clean and all the amenities were well though out and high quality. The room with the open air bath was well worth it alone so everything else was a bonus. I did not check out the public bath due to tattoo policy.

The owner was the sweetest, hardest working inn-keeper we have met. She drove us from and to the little bus stop near the minshuku. The facility is old but clean and the rooms were warm and comfortable. The hotspring bath was lovely but the dinner and breakfast were the best. Part of the train ride from Nikko to Kinugawa Onsen turned out to be fun with an old steam train. The little bus from Kinugawa Onsen to the stop of the guesthouse was an adventure in itself. Please DO listen to the advice of getting there early. There are only a few buses in the early afternoon.

The kaiseki dinners and breakfasts were clearly the highlight of the stay. They might arguably have been worth the entire cost of the stay, and make the ryokan itself a destination for a quick trip from Tokyo. The setting is beautiful, looking down over a rushing mountain river. The staff were attentive and seemed to be genuinely sweet and caring people.

The meals were amazing! It was like having dinner at a restaurant with a one star rating from a certain French tire company. The Kanaya family has been serving up luxury for over 100 years and it shows. We loved our room, the view, and the service.

Kinugawa Park Hotels is a nice Japanese-style inn with large and comfortable rooms offering both European beds as well as Tatami mats. The Onsen public baths are a bit dated, but well laid out and a nice experience.

Rooms are very big and comfy, onsen is small but very nice to enjoy. Nikko is quiet and calm and so was this location. Breakfast included was the right choice because it‘s hard to find something to eat nearby especially in the morning. Ryokan is amazingly beautiful and futon was adequate.

Beautiful views, warm welcome, comfortable futon, and overall nice japanese style room. I loved the yukata that we received, and I was extremely happy with the onsen. The lobby area is very nice, i appreciated that we could leave the luggage there. The area itself is also very enjoyable and walkable, and the accommodation is also close to the station.

Fantastic traditional Japanese inn (ryokan). The on-site onsen had two options, indoor and outdoor. The friendliness of the staff made us feel very welcome and the meals served were traditional and delicious.

Onsen was moderately sized with an outdoor component containing amazing sulphuric hot spring water. Service and dinner was also impeccable, never felt so welcomed at a ryokan before. Would definitely recommend for couples!
