A very quiet place in a nice neighborhood, close to the Hozanji funicular station, and you can get to Toyama station by foot using the stairs for a hundred meters heigh walk. The traditional bedrooms of the Ryokan have a small entrance where you can leave your luggage. Then you can appreciate the size of the room and the view over Ikoma and around. For breakfast, the staff cooks delicious meals for you and each morning you can enjoy different ingredients. An upright piano is in the entrance hall, and if you ask for, you might be allowed to play... It can leads to karaoke sessions with oba-chan, a must-do!

The ryokan also offers free use of bicycles. Kofuku-ji is 1.1 km from Musashino, while Kasuga Taisha is 300 metres from the property. The nearest airport is Osaka Itami Airport, 39 km from the property. This felt like less of a hotel stay and more of an experience as a whole. If you are exploring Nara I would recommend taking at least a day to just enjoy this hotel stay. We were greeted by extremely friendly staff who helped us with every little thing, from taking our luggage to ordering a taxi for our departure. We were served luxurious meals for dinner and breakfast in our room, by staff who set our table and made our bed. The location was magical with beautiful nature and deers roaming around outside. They had an amazing natural hot spring bath as well. Would warmly recommend this place.

Soundproof rooms feature a serene interior with a tatami (woven-straw) floor, low furniture and shoji paper screens. Amenities include a flat-screen TV with satellite channels, a fridge and toiletries. Guests sleep in Japanese futon bedding, and the rooms come with an all-wooden bathroom. A very comfortable tatami-mat room with a deep full soak tub. The location in regards to Nara Park was fantastic and I had a wonderful view of Tōdai-ji in the mornings. Things were very quiet, the staff went above and beyond to make sure my stay was everything it could be including walking me through all the amenities they had to offer. They also provided local area maps with all the main attractions and let me know how best to navigate what I wanted to do which helped quite a bit with planning how I spent my time.

Offering public baths, Sarusawaike Yoshidaya is situated in front of Sarusawa-ike Pond. Kofuku-ji Temple is just a 2-minute walk away. Free WiFi is available on site.

Each air-conditioned room includes a seating area, a fridge and flat-screen TV with satellite channels. The bathroom comes with free toiletries. The lady was so nice to greeting us. The traditional breakfast was so pretty. They didn't have a parking space but provided us a private parking lot and paid for us. The location was great for sightseeing on foot, we didn't have to drive.

This ryokan provides free private parking, a shared kitchen and free WiFi. The ryokan features family rooms. Authentic and cosy ryokan experience. The host is a really nice lady who speaks good English and is a great cook. Breakfast was delicious! Futons was sooo comfortable that we had trouble getting out of. The kotatsu table was a nice and cosy addition as well! Wish we had a longer stay 🥰

Basic Japanese-style rooms overlook the temple compound, and feature a tatami (woven mat) floor, on which traditional futon bedding is spread to sleep in. They are fitted with air conditioning and a safe. Incredible location in a very quiet part of town. Lots of temples in the direct vicinity. We were able to participate in temple rituals in the morning, and dinner and breakfast were both delicious.

A 12-minute walk from the Kintetsu Nara Train Station, Hotel New Wakasa offers Japanese-style rooms with tatami (woven-straw) flooring. A spacious public bath and foot bath is available for guests to relax in. Free luggage before and after check-in is available on site. Free WiFi is available at the entire building. Really friendly, welcoming staff with good English, welcomed us with tea, showed us to our rooms and advised us about the local areas. Cypress room private onsen was incredible, we booked this in advance (around £25 for an hour) at sunset and had incredible views. One of my favourite onsen experiences of the trip. Public onsen spaces are also nice with multiple baths. Really close to the Nara parks and can easily walk into town for food.

Tsukihitei is located in the Kasugayama Primeval Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Each guest room has a Japanese-style decor and offer panoramic forest views, traditional tatami (woven-straw) floors, and shoji paper screens. Beautiful and the staff was amazing.

Featuring an open-air bath and views of quiet street, Ryokan Asukasou at the entrancne of Nara park is a recently renovated ryokan located in Nara, 1.8 km from Nara Station. It is set 20 km from Iwafune Shrine and provides a lift. There is a terrace and guests can make use of free WiFi, free private parking and an electric vehicle charging station. Peaceful and close to both the Park and train station.

The Japanese-style rooms at Mikasa Ryokan have traditional futon beds and tatami (woven-straw) floors. Each includes a flat-screen TV and private bathroom. Some rooms feature a private outdoor bath.

Kasugayama Primeval Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is right next to the ryokan. Wakakusayama Mountain, offering spectacular views of Nara, is a 10-minute drive away. Todai-ji Temple is a 7-minute drive. This was the best hotel I've ever stayed in, the experience was amazing and the staff were incredibly attentive. If you want a Ryokan experience with a delicious traditional Japanese breakfast and dinner, plus onsen. Then do yourself a favour and treat yourself to Mikasa, it was truly the best part of our trip in Japan. I highly recommend paying the extra bit to get a room with the private onsen bath it was heavenly.
