The facilities are super awesome, with free laundry, free minibar (even with alcohol!) provided. Female & Male public bath did interchange each other for evening and morning session, so we can enjoy both facilities. They even have massage chairs in the public bath area for free. Sadly if there is chance to purchase milk/ yogurt after onsen, it will be perfect!
The breakfast and dinner are nice too. Breakfast is semi-buffet with quite a lot of salad & drink provided. When we mentioned one of us has certain food allergy, the manager checked in details to ensure everything is alright.

The mother and son duo (I believe) are professional and so caring. I ordered their Tochigi wagyu steak for dinner and it was one of the best meals I had in Japan. Incredible marbling of the steak and the complimenting dishes were amazing. The breakfast was also amazing and they even gave me a snack pack before I left. Amazing hospitable hosts that I would recommend for anyone. There are two private onsens available 24/7 on site too. Tobu bus stop right across the street for easy access.

We felt really welcome by our host, and she helped us organize in-room dinner prepared by one of the local restaurants. The accompanying breakfast is a tour de force in small Japanese dishes, which were all equally interesting and tasty. We could not recommend this place enough.

I travel quite a lot and have never seen such hospitality. Each meal was special and unbelievably beautifully presented. We’ve tasted things that didn’t know existed. We had a room with a private onsen. It’s a bit pricey, but worth it if you already made it all the way there. The room was simple but very clean and comfortable. The public onsen is also nice, especially the outdoor pool.
Kinugawa Onsen, Nikko
Guests at Nanaeyae Ryokan can relax in the public bathing area looking out to the valley that changes colour each season, or unwind in the relaxation room after the bath. A gift shop and a lounge bar are available on site. It was our first time staying in a ryokan, and it did gave us a really good impression. Property itself was nice, located in a small town beside the river. Room was facing the river so we can hear the soothing noise from the river. Dinner was excellent--food kept on coming, great quality, great variety. They even managed to cater our diet (without pork and alcohol). I love the outdoor onsen. It's very relaxing to soak in the hot water facing the river.

Lovely Ryokan with very nice private Onsens, both indoor and outdoor. The building is a bit old but the staff is very welcoming and accommodating and the food served is absolutely delicious! They were able to accommodate our 1 person not eating meat since we let them know in advance and prepared one of the best dinners we've had in Japan!
The location of the property is amazing! 😍 in the middle of the nature :) the hot spring onsen are super nice! There are also mixed bathes where woman and man can go inside together :) the staff was super friendly! The food was good, too.
Absolutely surpassed my expectation as I'd thought it was a hostel but it turned out to be a dorm room within a great hotel! Highly recommend to opt for the food included (especially dinner) as it's a sumptuous 6-course meal with limitless alcohol. Great way to try the cuisine of Japan. The common room also had beautiful views of the lake, free snacks and drinks (including alcohol), games and hammocks. The onsen was great! Everything was clean and to a high standard. They also gave slippers, free toiletries and yukatas.
Simple the best stay we had in Japan. Excellent service. Very welcoming and benevolent hosts. We were provided with detailed information on the sites to visit + a clear map. Clean and rather spacious room with a lovely view and on river stream. Onsen and yukata. Plenty to do around by walk. Tea and coffee available+ fridge and microwave Lovely onsen/sento that can be used privately We loved the serene and family feeling of this small hotel. We will happily come back someday!
Outstanding traditional stay in the forest. Loved being able to walk straight out the front door into the shrines. Slept like a baby on the tatami and ate like a queen. Enjoyed the outside onsen after long hours of walking each day, great experience.
This guest house is a hidden gem! The room was in a beautiful traditional Japanese style with Tatami floor and futon beds and our host was just the kindest and nicest person! :) it’s located right next to the canal there is a bento shop on the first floor. A supermarket, the Tochigi station and a boat ride on the canal are all in walking distance.
Beautiful onsen, very welcoming staff, good location, very confortable (sleeping on tatami and futon), wide room, storage space.
Fantastic traditional Japanese inn (ryokan). The on-site onsen had two options, indoor and outdoor. The friendliness of the staff made us feel very welcome and the meals served were traditional and delicious.
We loved this place! Large tatami room with futon beds (note that you will have to make your bed which is common in Japan). The common areas are wonderful with many places to seat and relax, or work (desks and tables). The shared kitchen was large and super clean with everything you need to cook. The onsite Onsen was fantastic! One indoor Onsen and one outside, which was amazing! Staff was nice and friendly.
