This Hotel Atlantico Avenida is in violation of every sanitary regulation: Unclean bathrooms, dirty towels, bed-bugs infestation, rodents and insects hiding everywhere in the rooms. Don`t go here if you have any dignity and self-esteem. After one night I had to check out and move to another hotel with more decent rooms and cleanliness.

Travellers who stayed in Rio de Janeiro near Rio de Janeiro/Galeao International Airport (GIG) have said good things about Linx Galeão, Capri Hotel and Matiz Multi Suites.
Home of samba, Brazil’s 2nd largest city is sassy, seductive and spectacular. The Rio Carnival is legendary the world over for outrageous costumes and infectious rhythms.
Host of the 2014 World Cup final in Maracanã stadium and the 2016 Olympics and Paralympics, Rio de Janeiro is forward-thinking. High rises line Ipanema beach and you can find dozens of rollerbladers on the promenades at any time.
The hottest spot is Copabacana, a great place to try biscoito globo, a typical Rio beach snack. Sip a caipirinha here while the sun sets over the bay and mountains – unforgettable. It doesn’t end there though. Clubbing in Rio is fantastic and ranges from techno to traditional bossa nova. Bohemian beats can be found in Santa Teresa and Lapa, whose trams pass over a double-arched viaduct.
Overlooking all this from Corcovado mountain is iconic Christ the Redeemer, welcoming the world to Rio with arms outstretched. Take the funicular railway up to this statue on the edge of lush Tijuca Park for incredible views. Accessed by cable car, Sugar Loaf Mountain is also not to be missed.
Rio de Janeiro Airport is well linked to the ‘Marvellous City’, but traffic can be manic, so leave enough time to reach it from your Rio hotel, apartment or hostel booked through Booking.com.
The food is great the city not so much. Most streets truly look like a third world with holes and trash everywhere. Some of the beaches are kinda clean the others are dirty. The night life is great but be careful it can be dangerous.

Rio is an amazing and beautiful city.
Rio is an amazing and beautiful city. No matter what part of Rio you are in, there is always something good to do or a great restaurant to have a meal.
What makes Rio special are the people. I have formed many friendships over the years, and my friends are my family here.
I recommend stopping in Praia Vermelha and Urca. The beach at Praia Vermelha is small but worth the trip. in Urca, yo can have a beer or a meal and watch the planes take off and land at Santos Dumont AIrport.
In Urca, you can take the cable car to Sugarloaf. Don't miss it!
Go to Centro and walk around. You will see architecture from the 1800's, and nearby, is the Museum of Tomorrow. Some of the oldest restaurants in Rio are Downtown (think Rio Minho for seafood and Casa Ulrich for German fare)
Take a trolley ride from Centro to the Bohemian neighborhood of Santa Teresa. Have a walk around.
See Christ the Redeemer, but don't forget to walk one more block to Largo do Botacario. There you will see a square more than 100 years old an may find an artist painting there.
Coming back to Copacabana (my preferred location for hotel stays) take a walk to the end and you will find the Copacabana Fort. There is a museum and restaurants and you will find an absolutely beautiful view of Copacabana from there.
Enjoy your stay

The place I was well located and access to other place was easy by subway, options for eating very easy, was a little dirty street with some garbage and some bad smells, but I felt safely since there are a good movimento of people.

We were lucky with the weather! takes a little time to getting used to moving around the town but taxis aren't too expensive.
Would be worth the effort to have a more cultural contact with the people who we found to be friendly and helpful.

Plenty of nice places to visit, easy to walk around, good number of decent restaurants and great beach culture with conditions to do beach sports, that is the nice part.
On another hand - lots of crime, homeless people everywhere, plenty of big buildings all around the beautiful beaches and pollution, pollution, pollution...
Nothing. It wan an absolute nightmare. The house keeping only came every day to make the bed and go. They didn't even sweep the floor or clean the bathroom. it was so disgusting. Couldn't even give us tissue for the toilet. what a disgrace. This place should be shut down. I have come a few times to Rio and stayed in Copacabana palace hotel, Miramar by Windsor, JW Marriott Hotel Rio de JaneiroCopacabana, Sofitel Rio De Janeiro Ipanema and NEVER have I BEEN treated soooo POORLY.
The localisation of the hotel is great (30min by taxi/uber from GIG Airport, 5min walk from Copacabana beach, and 10min walk to Ipanema). Lots of store around to eat, drink and buy convenience products.
The staff is really helpful and nice. The room was a great size and has AC, the bathroom too and everything was clean.
Breakfast was kind of buffet with many choice (eggs, sausage, bread, jam, honey, coffee, milk…) and was tasty.
The hotel is in a great location, 5 mins walk from Copacabana beach and 15mins walk from Ipanema beach. The staff were all very friendly, lots of local knowledge. They allowed us to keep our bags in storage post check-out. There is a rooftop pool (quite small size) with a gym and sauna also available. Our room was comfortable, ample storage and had a safe in the cupboard. Overall I found the hotel great value for money.
Very good room, with nice view. The room was ample and bright and very clean. Linen and towels were of good quality, as were the toiletries. The staff was friendly and helpful and the breakfast is excellent. The hotel location is very good, allowing easy access to Ipanema and Copacabana.
Everything in the hotel was according to expectations. The hotel staff was very friendly and always took care of our needs. The location is perfect, in front of Copacabana Beach and close to Ipanema, Leblon, restaurants and bars.
