I was sceptical when booking this hotel because some of the negative reviews. Having stayed here for a week I can conclude those are from people expecting a 5 star experience, when paying a 3 star hotel price to stay in a very solid 4 star hotel.
The service is exceptional, from the reception staff, which were some of the best I've dealt with, to the group taking care of breakfast and room service, all were very accommodating to special requests.
The location is perfect, you cross the street and are on the beach, just behind there is the boulevard with multiple grocery stores, bus stops..
The rooms do look exactly as on the pictures, 90s style retro design ;) But overall very well maintained and all amenities provided. There is a fridge in each room and strong Aircon.
My room window was a few meters away from the next buildings wall but that is also noted when booking, and with the great views from the rooftop the price for sea view was not worth for me, especially as the drapes are on to keep the sun out most of the time.
The rooftop pool is quiet at night as well, not a party bar as it's not s party hotel, mostly families and young couples, they have all possible drinks from tea to cocktails and the best sunset views.
You get a free beach chair from the barrack right opposite the hotel on the beach and an umbrella for 10reals if youd want.
Overall, I'd rate this hotel as Exceptional considering the value for money.

Lovely old hotel that is located at a perfect location with walking access to both Copacabana and Ipanema. When we arrived the staff was helpful, especially Pedro ! Helped us figure out the car parking and any questions we had. We booked the delux room and The room was a good size. Felt very safe during our stay with best part being you can leave all your valuables in the hotel and go for a swim to the beach. Lastly the breakfast was excellent so I highly recommend to opt for it.

Third visit to Rio , first time over 15y ago in a flat Ipanema for 2 weeks
Last time nov 17 for a few days in a hotel.in Copacabana
This time stayed 8 days in the center (Lapa District) more local with lots of bars and restaurants. Underground at walking distance and most easy to travel to different areas of Rio. Otherwise cheap fares with Uber and taxis OK. Always great to be back in RdeJ.

Will DEFINITELY be back to Rio de Janeiro!!
Will DEFINITELY be back to Rio de Janeiro!!
It is a BEAUTIFUL city & so many activities in the area.
Close to many restaurants, live shows, bars, convenience stores.
Pricey to be in this area but worth-it staying within walking distance.
We heard some stories of bag snatching & phone thefts, but we were SAFE walking around. We didn't use our phones out in public, instead we checked our locations & GPS before we left & used nearby stores to pop into on our way to getting to places, so we could SAFELY check our phones (to make sure we were still on track)
Many tour operators in the area if U choose to do tourist attractions.
We done a few on our own, since they were easily accessible by bus / taxi & cost a LOT cheaper.
There are many attractions U can book online to SAVE U money & many we done during the week when it was not congested

Rio is a world-class city in a spectacular location that is worth visiting any time. The beaches are world-famous, but the national parks, especially the botanical garden, as also worth visiting. I have been visiting Rio since the mid-1990's and have never had a negative experience. For details, I can suggest you look at the very many videos and reviews already available on line.

Everyone tell you be careful of pick pocket in Rio.
Everyone tell you be careful of pick pocket in Rio. That is true but also the town near Copacabana is so lively. Bakery like in Europe, hair salon do massage and nail with reasonable price. Street food, street fashion are all affordable. But you have a select a safe hotel.
Anna Suites was situated in next building of Arena hotel and breakfast was in Arena hotel. They had very good fresh fruit selection: watermelon, melon, papaya, mango, Usual English breakfast stuff like scrambled eggs, sausages but additional 4 different salty pies every morning. Also plenty of sweet option to choose from. Only thing I did miss was fresh salads, tomato, cucumber etc. In general tasty and filling so could skip they lunch with ease.
Location was good between Copacabana and Ipanema beach , both only few minutes walk away.
Everything!!! The food was amazing in the hotel, breakfast, lunch and dinner, all delicious. The staff were friendly, smiley, helpful and accommodating. The room was very clean, bright and exactly like the photos, we stayed in the luxury room with ocean view and balcony. The bed was comfortable and extra big. The location was the best, we often walked the whole Copacabana and Ipanema and for us this was the best location. There are shops, restaurants, pharmacy near.
The hotel is in a great location, 5 mins walk from Copacabana beach and 15mins walk from Ipanema beach. The staff were all very friendly, lots of local knowledge. They allowed us to keep our bags in storage post check-out. There is a rooftop pool (quite small size) with a gym and sauna also available. Our room was comfortable, ample storage and had a safe in the cupboard. Overall I found the hotel great value for money.
Amazing price for the location (Copacabana Beach was a 5 minute walk), the room was clean, and the staff are friendly. There’s even a security guard by the front door/lobby so we always felt safe coming and going from the hotel. A front desk staff even went above and beyond by doing research and printing out the info for us when we were trying to buy tickets to a soccer game at the Maracanã Stadium!
Everything was perfect! Marcia was an excellent hostess and made me feel right at home for my first visit to Rio! The staff was very friendly and any questions or concerns I had during my trip Marcia answered with the utmost speed and professionalism via whatsapp. The property is conveniently located next to bars, fine dining, shops, all the hotels on Copacabana and tours. Excellent!!
The room was a really good size, the breakfast was great and the pool is lovely! All the staff were so friendly and was the perfect base for a trip to Rio. Staying in Lapa was a great choice for us and I think it helped us explore a different side to Rio that we might not have seen if we'd just stayed in copacabana and Ipanema.
Good hotel in posto 5 Copacabana, within walking distance from Ipanema. Safe area. Helpful staff. Hotel transfer/taxi available. Nice midum size swimming pool on 16th floor. Ask for a room with sea view. Excellent restaurant and 24 hours room service. Modern and clean bathroom. Modern lifts.Highly recommend.
The location is amazing, right inbetween Copacabana and Ipanema. Staff was very friendly and accomodating. Bar, food, tours offered were very affordable. I also liked that it was a smaller option on the Copocabana strip and not a megahotel like the Fairmont next door. Loved the rooftop pool and view.
Great location, 3 mins to the beach, safe area full of restaurants, pharmacies and supermarkets. You can walk the entire length of Copacabana from the hotel and also to Ipanema. Good breakfast, with fruit and daily changing cakes. The cleaning staff is very efficient.
Excellent location close to most popular beaches Copacabana and Ipanema. The service was great, good breakfast and nice staff. The room was comfortable and good shower, little old style room though. My son also liked the hotel!
Can definitely recommend it!
Pestana Rio is an amazing place to stay. Our room with a partial view os the see gave us the opportunity to see the sunrises as well take good pictures. I recommend this hotel. Copacabana is always Copacabana. Next year we will be back to the same hotel.
The breakfast was very good. We were very surprised that the hotel provided us sun beds and umbrella on the Copacabana beach. Special thank to Isaias, the guy who took care of us on the beach. They have a safe zone and there is no risk.
The breakfast is very complete. The location is perfect all the good things just outside the hotel, you can walk everywhere in copacabana! The staff was very friendly and always willing to help and answer all your questions.
The breakfast was great, shower and bed very good also. The location of the Hotel is very good too, very nearby Ipanema beach, about 20 min walk, and right at Copacabana Beach, plenty of restaurants and bars around.
The location is perfect, near copacabana beach and just a stone’s throw away from the major attractions in Rio de Janeiro such as the Sugarloaf Mountain, Christ the Redeemer. The best base when you are in Rio.
Breakfast was exceptional. Location is ideal. Room exceeded my expectation. Staff were very attentive and professional. An absolute privilege to have stayed at the Miramar by Windsor Hotel in Copacabana.
