We arrived very early (5 hours before check in) and they accommodated us without any issues. The staff is incredible and always assisted when needed. I forgot my purse and they called us right away when we left and returned it to us when we got there-the service was amazing!
The property is perfectly located if you want a rest night on your way to Durban as it’s right off the highway which was perfect!
The bed slept great!!

Harrismith is a small town and halfway from Johannesburg to Durban.
Not much to do, but a very nice relaxing out of the way place.
For back pack travellers it could be a fantastic spot if you want 5 star accommodation.

The decision to stay overnight at the lodge was our worst decision to date. On reaching at 10:30 pm, it was found that there was no electricity. The security said that electricity will come at 12 o'clock. Waited for 12:30 AM but the electricity did not come.
Think about sub-zero temperatures, not even electricity to make tea or coffee. Again asked security he said our job is security.
At one o'clock in the night, there was no helper, no emergency food arrangement, there was no electricity in the cottage.
The nearest town is also 25 km away and the road is also rough.
Finally went to sleep to see in the morning. I woke up at five in the morning and still there was no electricity. Called the emergency number twice but it was closed and there was no security.
Leaving visitors so helpless in such a rural place is extremely risky and we don't know what to do next while the lights in the front building were clear.
When we called the reception in the morning, they started apologizing, but such an apology is of no use to us when we people started feeling sick due to the cold.
We are very disappointed with such bad service and will probably never visit here again.

Harrismith is a one horse town, nothing to do there but we went down for the Cancer runn (Bikes) that was enjoyable. The roads in the residential area is HORRENDUS! Potholes like i have never experienced so they need to fix this pronto, but having said that NOTHING gets repaired in this country, it's shocking!

Never really stayed in Harrismith until now.
Never really stayed in Harrismith until now. Always stop at the Harrismith Engen garage on the N3 when travelling to Durban and back to JHB.
As this was part of Harrismith I can say that my stay in Harrismith was fanatstic...my opinion though, choose your place wisely.

The owner's son welcomed us and provided us with a delicious dinner and breakfast. The facility was very clean.
The guesthouse has a stunning view of the Platberg.
Felt safe and also did not worry about our vehicle. Parking area was well lit at night. Close to room. as well.
The rooms were surprisingly warm for Harrismith. We thought it would get very cold at night. We did not even need the extra blankets we asked for. Outside was cold but inside very nice.
Absolutely stunning little place, when we arrived we were met with a warm and friendly welcome from David who went the extra mile to make sure we were all settled in and comfortable.
The room is so cozy and comfortable, with everything you will need. The heat and electric blanket was put on for us before we arrived, so the room was super warm and cozy. Will definitely stay again. It is definitely a must if you having to make a stop in Harrismith.
I liked absolutely NOTHING about this property. extremely horrible experience they cancelled my booking after already drove more than 400km to Harrismith. Was only made aware when i called them to arrange for a check in. i had already paid for my stay and had to make another booking.
From the start we felt super comfortable. The room was very neat and cozy. The wifi was also surprisingly top-notch! We will recommend this place to ANYONE who's traveling through Harrismith.
This place will definitely see us again.
A big 'Thank you' to the owner, Marius.
Reis en Rus, is well situated for the traveller on his way through. I would prefer a bedside lamp, but that is not everybody's necessity. Johan greeted us friendly at the gate, and his warm welcome, countered the cold of Harrismith in the winter. Thank you
Place was acceptable and lived up to expectations. Clean and tidy and good value for money. Plenty of secure inside parking available. Coffee and tea provided in room with kettle. Extra blankets as Harrismith can get very cold.
Great little lodge in Harrismith, Stayed only for one night while travelling between Durban and Joburg. Met by the owner at check in who was very welcoming. Very comfy accomodation and a cooked breakfast in the morning.
Place isn't yet finished, it's still work in progress. For a self catering place it didn't provide things like coffee or facilities to prepare anything.
