We have stayed in many wonderful places, but at Villa La Lumia we experienced genuine Sicilian hospitality. What makes this place truly special is Luigi and his family. They are genuinely lovely people who care about their guests and go the extra mile to make sure you feel comfortable, welcome and looked after. Our accommodation was wonderful – more like a spacious apartment, with a bedroom, living room, kitchen and bathroom – and the whole property is incredibly peaceful. Set among olive trees, lemon groves and beautiful gardens, with wonderful views towards the Valley of the Temples, it really does feel like a little piece of paradise in Agrigento. We particularly loved the atmosphere and the ethos of the place. There is a lovely sense of sustainability and harmony with the surroundings, including a colony of cats and a dog who are all simply part of life at the villa. It feels natural, relaxed and cared for. Breakfast was a delight, particularly the delicious homemade cakes. We also had dinner at the villa, and the family were incredibly thoughtful about our dietary preferences, including preparing something especially for me as I don’t eat fish. Much of the food is homemade or comes from the local garden, which makes the experience even more personal. Another unexpected highlight was meeting some wonderful fellow guests. We shared dinner together, talked for hours and made new friends. Those evenings created some very special memories that we will take home with us. But what really demonstrates the exceptional hospitality at Villa La Lumia happened after we had already left. We realised that we had accidentally left our passports behind. Luigi immediately found them, arranged to send them on to us and kept us updated throughout. He didn’t have to take such personal responsibility for sorting out our mistake, but he did so without hesitation. That level of kindness and care is rare, and it says everything about the people who run this place.

The apartments are in immaculate condition, super clean and the decor is so tasteful throughout. Bathrooms are amazing! Air conditioning worked perfectly and the hosts are the most helpful family. They went out of their way for us with amazing recommendations for restaurants, things to see and do. We would go back and recommend them as a central point in the old town with beautiful cobbled street and the real authentic feel of Agrigento.

Stunning bedroom, large and comfortable, with a lovely little balcony to look outside. The aircon was great, and so was the shared kitchen (extremely clean and organised). The reserved parking spot was also amazing to have. Riccardo was super helpful and kind, gave us excellent tips and allowed us to leave our things in the living room while we took in one last walk around the city. Agrigento was definitely the highlight of our trip!

Just about everything, it was spacious, clean and well equipped with tea, coffee, toast cruskettes, bottled water and some condiments in the pantry. Host Emma was very helpful with entry to the apartment from afar, after we had difficulty getting in. The location was very central to the main street and restaurants, bus and train station were nearby.

The landlord provided the link to unlock before we arrived. We didn't succeed when we opened the second door, and the landlord could come in time. The room is very large, and there is a small balcony to dry clothes, which is great! The three guest rooms share a kitchen and a living room.
