Very beautiful new hotel with perfect location located at Aomori station , the staff are sooo nice and friendly especially “ Alicia “ , she helped me to explore Aomori prefecture and she provided me with maps , buses and train timetable and procedures in English language. Private parking is available on site. Everything: the hotel, the onsen, the facilities, the staff. The onsen was great (inside and outside, the tubs, the sauna, the facilities). Everything was very clean. I also enjoyed the tasty apple juice. I would have liked to stay more there.
Kuroishi
Situated in Kuroishi in the Aomori region, Tabinoyado Saikawa features accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking, as well as access to spa facilities. This 3-star ryokan offers a housekeeping service and private check-in and check-out. Tsuta Hot Spring is 36 km away and Hirosaki Castle is 22 km from the ryokan. This is a traditional Japanese ryokan with public baths (gender separated). Dinner and breakfast are amazing and plentiful, with locally sourced organic produce (even coffee!). Our room (Japanese room with private toilet) was to the left of the entrance. It was very spacious. The heater worked very well as autumn night was a bit damp and cold. The beds are futons on wood bed frames on tatami, and they are super comfortable. As I have a whole-leg tattoo which is usually not permitted in the public baths, I notified Ranko in advance, and she reserved the private bath for us. The private bath was a very beautiful blue ceramic bath filled with warm (I don’t think it’s very hot) healing hot spring water from the area. Ranko’s warm personality really made the stay memorable. Be sure to ask her for recommendations of the areas. She is a well of knowledge of the area!

Each room at this ryokan is air conditioned and comes with a TV. The rooms include a private bathroom. For your comfort, you will find slippers and a hairdryer.
We wanted to visit the so-called Demon Slayer castle hotel. It’s out of the way so we rented a car rather than take transit. The drive itself was four hours from Tokyo.
From the parking lot staff, to front desk, housekeeping and everyone there… the staff were all amazingly kind and patient. Not everyone speaks English, but there are a few.
The rooms are spacious, clean, and very ryokan style (tatami) and the onsen was super clean. We had Kaiseki dinner and it was quite the experience. Food was delicious at dinner and the buffet lunch was traditionally Japanese. The stand out for us was the AIZU yogurt and AIZU maple syrup made from local chestnut trees.
If anyone at Ookawaso reads this, please accept our thank you. You were all wonderful and we hope to visit from Canada again someday. Thank you for your patience with my eight year old son and our horrible Japanese.
Senboku
7.6 km from Nyuto Hot Spring in Senboku, Aoni Sanso features accommodation with access to a hot spring bath, public bath and open-air bath. Aizuwakamatsu
Tagoto features a hot public bath, Japanese-style and Western rooms and Japanese cuisine, a 5-minute drive from Aizu Wakamatsu Station. It offers free Wi-Fi throughout the propert and free parking is on-site. This is a Japanese traditional hotel. The hosts are very friendly and try to help all the time. Although it is sometimes not easy to communicate in English, but they tried their best to understand us and also express themselves. Actually with Google Translator there is no communication issues anymore. My room is the one with private bathroom but still I can use the big bath outside the room, which is very comfortable. The dinner and breakfast are wonderful!! I would be very happy to stay here next time if I visit this city again.
Zaō Onsen
Set 500 metres from Zao Onsen Ski Resort, Pension Puutaro offers 3-star accommodation in Zao Onsen and features a garden. Among the facilities of this property are a restaurant, luggage storage space and bicycle parking, along with free WiFi throughout the property. Everything very clean. Very large room for single or 2 persons, can probably fit a whole family. Keiko was super nice and helpful and had great suggestions for restaurants. There’s just a lot of attention to every detail overall. The toilets even had the highest quality toilet paper I’ve ever seen in Japan😀 The price in summer/off season was very fair. There is no AC but it should unusually not be needed. Even when it was 37 degree in Tokyo it was only 25 in Zao onsen.

The location was great, with an easy access to Sendai train station and the city centre. The staff was friendly, and everything we could have needed was provided (towels, water bottles, vending machine,...)
Great location. Friendly staff Reasonable buffet breakfast for 3 star hotel.
The location is great, just a minute to the station, to the river and a few more minutes into the city center.
The best part of staying in this budget hotel is the exceptional breakfast buffet with a great variety of Japanese homemade dishes. It’s within a 10-min walk from the JR station. The public bath is open until late night.
The bath size was decent for a budget hotel. Staff were very friendly too.
When arriving, the lobby felt so grand and luxurious with seating in the front! The check in process was through a machine but the staff were friendly and available for help when needed. The disposable amenities available were also easy to access and had a great range. The room was also a nice and tidy and the bathroom was the same too. I liked that laundry machines were easily accessible. The location compared to the city centre (especially Sendai Station) was extremely convenient.
Good location, in city center.
Breakfast is excellent: Japanese and ample quantities. Small selection of western food available. Dinners are sensational; a rotation between Sukiyaki, Bbq and Shabu Shabu. All delicious in their own way. Accomodation is 3 star and comfortable enough. There are private and public onsens - the public ones are, perhaps, slightly small. Location to Appi Kogen is perfect - a two minute drive at most, even in foul weather. The tariffs are very reasonable, in stark contrast to 1.3km up the hill, on snow.
Friendly staff, convenient location, clean rooms, and good price. I appreciate that the staff offered to hold on to our bags after check-out. That was very nice and it allowed me to enjoy my Sendai trip without carrying a heavy backpack around all day.
Location of the hotel is about 10 min walk. It is located in the city center. There is a coin laundry machine in the hotel. There was no drinking water supplied to us. However the water from tap is drinkable.
