About San Antonio

Including tips for the best time to visit San Antonio

Historical landmarks, modern attractions and cultural offerings are just a few of the many reasons that make San Antonio a popular place to visit in Texas, USA.

San Antonio is home to two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, The Alamo and San Antonio Missions National Historical Park. At The Alamo – a former Spanish mission and the site of a historic battle in 1836 – you can learn about the history of Texas Revolution through interactive displays and guided tours. San Antonio Missions National Historical Park is spread across a large area that comprises four missions established by Spanish Catholic priests in the 18th century. Four out of the five original missions still remain and you can explore their churches, compounds and other structures.

I liked absolutely nothing abt this LaQuinta.

8 February 2024

I liked absolutely nothing abt this LaQuinta. Our room was next to a drainage ditch with large pieces of trash in it. Homeless lived in a tent next to the ditch. The small rugs in front of all the rooms were torn and shabby. All areas looked unkempt. I will do my best to warn travelers away from this motel and this area.

I grew up in San Antonio and enjoy coming back as a tourist. Doing less practical things that there wasn't the money to do growing up. There are still several things on the Riverwalk I haven't done yet.

I have been to San Antonio multiple times.

27 January 2024

I have been to San Antonio multiple times. I enjoy the Riverwalk, the restaurants, the shopping, and the music. There is so much history in San Antonio there is something for everyone. Be sure and put your walking shoes on as parking can be a challenge. There is ample parking at the Rivercenter Mall or if you are staying at a hotel, they usual offer both self-park and valet, both offsite. Be sure to include a visit to the Tower of Americas, go to the top and enjoy a meal at the Chart House. The restaurant provides a 360 view of San Antonio, I recommend the sunset view! This city offers a bit of everything so just emerse yourself and have a great time!

I have been to SA before, and visited the Alamo and Riverwalk. I wanted to show those places to my husband of less than 3 years, but it was raining. Alas, we had taken along no rain gear. So maybe we can visit those spots when we return to SA in 3 weeks to fly back home.
