In a word: incredible!
Everything about our stay in the château was beyond our (very!) high expectations. The owner Gaël was extremely warm and welcoming, and gave a fascinating tour, in English for us. The castle itself was painstakingly and lovingly restored to its former glory, yet had all the modern amenities. Emma greeted us upon arrival and made us feel at home right away. Our room was so comfortable I could hardly bring myself to get out of the bed.
But the delectable breakfast made it all worth it! They were so accommodating, they acquired gluten-free bread just for me, and the jams, cheeses, and honeys were so delicious! I loved all the teas and my hubby really overdid it with the espresso machine 😉
Let me not forget to mention that the shower was fantastic and there was a giant soaking tub. We had free use of the common rooms in the castle to read in front of a toasty fire and just relax in quiet comfort. We could hardly believe our good fortune, to stay in such an amazingly beautiful place.
Overall, it was a really perfect stay, and we only wish that it could have been longer! Highly recommend!

The hotel is set in beautiful grounds of the chateau with a beautiful scenic views of the countryside. Plenty of outdoor activities and facilities to enjoy the nature. Great for dogs 🐕 , plenty of open spaces and the walks and cycle routes are well signed so you know exactly what path to take.
Lovely hotel for a peaceful break! Would recommend. The service of the staff was excellent

Visiting the castle is an opportunity to learn more about François 1er. He is much more intelligent and visionary than he is portrayed in some TV shows and movies. If you want to know more about Francois 1er, you should complete the trip by visiting Fontainebleau.

Although I had been to Chambord numerous times, I was intrigued by the new presentation by Jacques Garcia. It brings the chateau to life. Before the entry was very austere. The Francois I apartment is more interesting, with a bed more in keeping with the time. There are a lot of interesting touches which reflect the lifestyle at the time such as the bed used for travel (from the period) and also the camp bed in the bedroom which would have been used by a manservant. My friends were impressed by the new kitchen section (kitchens don't interest me!).

Make sure you get clear directions on how to enter the gated hotel reception area which is very poorly signed. GPS takes one to the gated tourist visitor area not the hotel lot. Consider the dining options before making a reservation. If you want convenience for visiting the Chambord Chateau from your hotel you cannot do better than this upscale property.
We had a lovely stay at the Relais de Chambord! The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the room felt comfortable and luxurious with lots of little touches and attention to detail (although the room was slightly smaller than we were expecting). The spa area is lovely, especially the outdoor hot tub and sauna/steam room areas. The bar and restaurant were also great and we had a delicious meal there. Great location right next to the river and the Chateau! We would definitely go back if we were in Chambord again.
Beautiful well preserved chateau, amazing historical significance, very clean, delicious daily french breakfast included in the price, very comfortable beds. The chateau owner and staff very friendly and attentive to all your needs ensuring you have the best possible time. I can’t wait to come back and bring my teenage boys. Central location close to the most popular tourist attractions. Because of this very special property, the Loire Valley will ALWAYS have a special place in my heart.
Thé location was great, the hotel staff were extremely helpful and both the gastronomy restaurant and relais’s bistro were amazing ! We had a lovely quiet deluxe room with very comfy everything ! The breakfast was also excellent.
We enjoyed lounging in the sunshine on the terrace with a magnificent view of the Chateau in the afternoon reading the newspapers after touring the area and château.
The relais exceeded our expectations and I would happily give it 9+++ rating
The hosts are amazing-friendly, welcoming and rightfully enthusiastic about their special home. It is exceptional in every way. Beautifully maintained, thoughtfully decorated and the grounds were bucolic and steeped in history. Peaceful and yet centrally located to see the sites of the Loire Valley. It was full of wonder in every way. The breakfast in the lovely dining room was delicious as well.
The grounds were spectacular! Our room was huge, bed super comfortable; I felt like a queen!! Breakfast was wonderful - croissants, baguette, variety of jams and jellies, local cheeses, meats, yogurt, granola, OJ, cakes, hot beverage. We were given a complimentary tour of
the chateau and its grounds wherein we learned so much history of the house and history of France. Our hosts were the best.
We liked the fact that it was in walking distance to Chateau Chambord and you could have a great outdoor view of this beautiful Chateau day or night. Rooms were quite small, but clean. The room we booked was facing a closed in courtyard/garden. We enjoyed dining in the main restaurant during one night of our stay. However, the restaurant could have had more staff on hand.
What an outstanding place, we enjoyed staying at Chateau des Grotteaux Près Chambord. The place is tastefully decorated, with a lot of details. The grounds are well kept with a swimming pool and Eiffel bridge, nice touch! The services were impeccable. The owners are very pleasant and informative. Overall, we will definitely recommend this place!
The hotel had an effortless elegance. The staff were a delight, the position and location of the hotel was perfect and the tasting meal at the restaurant was one of the finest meals i have ever had. Superbly served, we'd like to give a special mention to the sommelier Christian who was incredibly knowledgeable and an absolute delight.
Excellent service at reception and with room service. The view of the river was very good from our bedroom. Service in the bar was excellent. The location of the hotel is superb, set close to the Chateau and within the expansive grounds. A spa is available free of charge. The friendly service in the bar was excellent.
The setting of this hotel has to be seen to be believed - it is literally within the grounds of Chateau de Chambord and only metres away from it. We were able to walk around the grounds of the Chateau with nobody else there, which was magical. The staff were wonderful and check in and out were very efficient.
Stunning location! Staying right next to Chateau Chambord was a wonderful experience & a great opportunity to walk the paths & woods around the château. The hotel is very comfortable with great facilities & and a good restaurant. Very helpful & courteous staff. I would highly recommend a stay here.
This hotel has a superb location with fabulous views from the restaurant to the chateau. Food and room were also very good. Pauline was very helpful getting us into the chateau quickly so we had a chance to visit it in the limited time we had available.
loved the location and views to the chateau. the meal at Grand St Michel was exquisite ! (although the table service was not to the same high standard as the food quality). Relaxed ambience of the hotel was good
Chateau des Grotteaux was such a lovely place! Gael and family were the perfect hosts. The Chateau itself is beautifully restored, with a fascinating history.
the convenience to Chambord, the beautiful style of the hotel. the hotel staff was amazing. they gave us a warm and cheerful welcome. we loved the breakfast.
Perfect for early chateau access. Posh looking hotel that was refurbished a few years ago.
Welcoming staff very helpful. Comfortable bed and huge duvet.
