We had a wonderful stay at des Grotteaux. The Chateau and grounds are magnificent. Gael and Cecile are gracious hosts and made some excellent suggestions regarding places to see and nearby restaurants. The Chateau is well situated for visits to Cheverny and Chambord with other Chateaus within easy driving distance. We would highly recommend des Grotteaux to any of our friends who are planning a visit to the Loire Valley.

Although I had been to Chambord numerous times, I was intrigued by the new presentation by Jacques Garcia. It brings the chateau to life. Before the entry was very austere. The Francois I apartment is more interesting, with a bed more in keeping with the time. There are a lot of interesting touches which reflect the lifestyle at the time such as the bed used for travel (from the period) and also the camp bed in the bedroom which would have been used by a manservant. My friends were impressed by the new kitchen section (kitchens don't interest me!).

Make sure you get clear directions on how to enter the gated hotel reception area which is very poorly signed. GPS takes one to the gated tourist visitor area not the hotel lot. Consider the dining options before making a reservation. If you want convenience for visiting the Chambord Chateau from your hotel you cannot do better than this upscale property.

You are paying for the stunning view! Room was very nice (superior) and enough space to fit baby cot (hotel supplied) Suggest if you aren’t in to fine dining or it’s cost then have a big lunch before you get there! We had room service as had a baby and it was nice. Friendly staff, smart hotel and is recommend if you want the up close experience to the Chateau

Fabulous location! Who doesn’t want to stare at the Château Chambord! Service in the breakfast area was speedy and well run. Free parking is great. Overall very well run hotel - no serious issues to note.
