Julienas is a wine town that has seen better times and now looks rather sad with so many empty or poorly maintained properties. A walk along the edge of the stream (which passes through the town) is interesting. The wine cellar tour looks interesting.
The location is amazing. Very tranquil amongst the vineyards of Beaujolais. Lovely building and gardens (with small pool), wonderful couple who run it and great breakfast. Only slight downside was we arrived late and there is no restaurant but the helpful man who runs the hotel arranged for us to go to a nearby restaurant for dinner. Overall it was great and I was sad we weren't staying for longer. Would recommend and I'd love to go back.
From the very first moment we were warmly welcomed and taken good care of. Our superior double room was spacious, impeccably clean and very comfortable. It had everything we could ask for. We slept well and peacefully. We enjoyed exquisite and beautifully presented food at the restaurant, and received excellent service. The continental breakfast was generous and filling. Staying at the hotel was a highlight of our trip.
Lovely village centre location - so why have we rated the location as 'poor' - because we were in an annexe to the main hotel down a side street - see more below. I enjoyed the restaurant selection and service very much, and found the wine list to be particularly good: my wife was not impressed - but I think that was a question of the choices we made
Very nice communication before arrival. The staff/owners are extremely friendly. We skipped breakfast and regretted it the minute we saw what was served for breakfast. So if you stay there, take the time to have breakfast, it is worth it!
The hotel is dog friendly. The owner is speaking excellent English.
an absolutely wonderful place surrounded by vineyards and beautiful scenery. the couple running the hotel were the most helpful and they put extra care into welcoming our children even though we may not have been their typical guests (most were older couples without kids).
Delightful hosts, lovely welcome. Stylishly decorated large bedroom and bathroom. Pool and poolside facilities were very welcome. Good choice of restaurants within easy walking distance through the vineyards, a good boulangerie in Julienas too.
The hotel is located on the side of a hill with beautiful views across the countryside. the sunrise was a magnificent sight. A local winemaker offered an evening wine tasting and it was great to taste wine in the garden setting.
