Chambres d'hôtes La Ferme du Scardon, hotel in Neufmoulin

Located on a characteristic farm in Picardy, just 5 mi from Abbeville, La Ferme du Scardon offers a garden, terrace, children’s play area and farm animals.

The breakfasts are delightful, featuring yoghurt, jams and compots made by the owner. The breakfast room overlooks a huge meadow with a lake at the bottom Guests in the 'barn' rooms (on the ground floor which is good for people with limited mobility) have use of a marvellous kitchen room with every possible facility, so although it is nominally B&B, in effect it is self catering. We had one cold, rainy day which we spent in this room, entertaining ourselves in front of the best wood burner I've ever seen!

HÔTEL JEAN DE BRUGES, hotel in Neufmoulin

Located 26 miles from Amiens Train Station, HÔTEL JEAN DE BRUGES offers 3-star accommodations in Saint-Riquier and has a shared lounge, a terrace and a bar.

Very quaint traditional French hotel, lots of character. Although I was expecting the breakfast to be included, it was charged at Euro15 per person. Having said that it was a very good continental breakfast and you can eat as much as you like. The food was fresh. The hotel does not provide dinner - but there are two very acceptable restaurants within 100m - we went to the Abbaye Cafe and the food was excellent

We arrived late just before the restaurant was closing. The staff stayed and prepared dinner for us. It was great because everything else in the area was closed as well.

Les Chambres d'hôtes du Faubourg, hotel in Neufmoulin

Les Chambres d'hôtes du Faubourg offers accommodations in Saint-Riquier, 26 miles from Amiens Train Station and 26 miles from Zénith d'Amiens.

The host was very kind and hospitable, and we had a chat in French about the village and what it was like living there. In addition, there was free parking on the property which made visiting the place by car pleasant to do. The breakfast was elaborate and very good as well. The host helped me check if the road was clear before leaving, as the cars drive very fast in the village, which made my depart a lot safer. I would highly recommend a stay here.

The accommodation is in the original farmhouse which has been renovated to a very high standard while keeping its character. The room is very large with a comfortable extra large double bed and tastefully furnished. The bathroom is also spacious and the shower great. The garden comprising of a huge lawn with flowery borders is very well tended. Easy to find property. Parking safe in farm courtyard. Very peaceful and relaxed atmosphere. The hosts are eager to please, they are very welcoming and served a very generous breakfast including homemade produce far above expectation. Restaurants available in St Riquier, five minutes down the road. I would warmly recommend this chambre d’hôtes and would go back any day!

Neufmoulin itself is a tranquil village surrounded by farms. There are lovely country walks, and the nearby towns of Abbeville and St Ricquier are within a few minutes drive. St Ricquier is good for basic supplies but Abbeville offers everything you might need in the way of shopping, eating etc. Be careful to plan your requirements for Sundays. Shops close early or don't open at all. Those restaurants that do open tend to be fully booked, as we found to our cost!

Everything was perfect: especially the human touch and how Elisabeth and Jean Marie made us feel at home. The communal facilities and those within our room were superb. The setting of an old converted farm passed down many generations, with a 32 year old horse, 16 year old goat (she was adorable and my 6 and 2 year old fed it daily by hand), a lovely friendly ginger cat called Sushi, a huge apple tree laden with delicious apples we enjoyed picking, a greenhouse, a lake, swings/trampoline/slide the kids loved playing on. Breakfast was exceptionally generous and good (great selection of regional and home made items and really good coffee) on the decked area above the huge well-tended garden leading onto a large pond also overlooking neighbouring working farms (you could see famers busying with their work and cattle in the distance). Getting to socialise and learn from other guest was a plus too. Its location for all the great local sites of Picardy is perfect - most places within 30-45 minutes. We were there during holidays so a lot of the restaurants were closed, however self catering was easy in the well appointed kitchen. At night the sky was exceptionally clear too! I hope this place stays as it is and we get to come again.

This 18th century building retains part of its original charm with sweeping staircases, antique furniture and lovely secluded garden. The garden view rooms are spacious and well appointed. Breakfast was available for €12 and should be sampled at least once in a multi night stay. From the hotel it is an easy walk (10 mins) to the harbor, shops and restaurants. All of the staff were friendly and very helpful. Arriving by car is a little tricky if you have reserved parking next to the hotel. The GPS system says you have arrived but there is a very short no entry street to the hotel. One needs to carry on and take 2 left turns to get back to main entrance.
