Breakfast was lovely with fresh juice, pastries and fruit. We were also sent away with extra slices of cake and fruit for our journey! We also had dinner there and nothing was too much. The food was excellent but was clearly prepared just for us and made it even more special with all the beams and vineyard features such as barrels in the reception and dining room. The bedroom was very cosy and the bed was extremely comfy and bathroom with a bath was excellent. The room was very large and had lots of features to make us feel like we were in the vineyard. The best bit was when we arrived and we were greeted by the family with glasses of port from their vineyard for free before sitting by a toasty fire to warm up - perfect welcome!!

We had a wonderful experience at Casa do Santo for our 2 night stay. Maria was very hospitable, helpful, and knowledgable. The views of the Douro valley are beautiful. The small, quaint village is a quick drive to the Douro river with amazing views of the hillside vineyards. Breakfast was delicious. We will definitely stay here again when we return to this area.

The home is an old style farm house that you would want to stay at in this part of the city. You drive a bit to it. Well worth the drive into the mountains. The views are every where you look! All guests eat together if they agree to accept the dinner invitation from the lovely host, Miguel. A delicious breakfast and supper is served at a communal table in the dining room. It's your choice whether or not to chat to other guests but striking up conversations with strangers can often be surprising and very rewarding!
