Location is very likely the best in the Lakes for views, tranquility, wildlife, dark nights, the dawn chorus, and inviting gardens. I could see Jeeves and Wooster being set here, but with all mod cons for a romantic weekend.

It isn't as easy to get to as the Windemere area, for example, but that was great for us. It's not a large hotel, and it's not modern, but it has a charm that is hard to beat. The views are wonderful, the staff friendly and helpful, the rooms and hotel generally was very clean, and the food was far beyond what we expected. Our room had a balcony overlooking the lake. Fabulous.

Pets are very welcome and my extremely nervous spaniel was surprisingly at easy during his stay. Staff were all friendly and welcoming. Room was clean and tidy food was nice but maybe a little over priced for what you got.
