First of all, I would like to give the highest score to the hotel for its location, the room, the view, the style, and the cleanliness. The housekeeping staff do an excellent job, and the atmosphere in the room together with the view from the window are truly unforgettable. Hiking on the mountain trails was a wonderful experience, and at night the sky was filled with countless stars — absolutely breathtaking. This is a place I would recommend to anyone.

I was traveling with my son, and after a full day in the saddle, we truly appreciated the comfortable room, friendly staff, and the perfect location right in the town center. The hotel has a cozy, family-run atmosphere, and the view from the rooftop terrace was simply stunning! In the morning, we enjoyed a generous breakfast selection — enough to satisfy both a hungry biker and even the most demanding foodie 😊. After exploring Zell am See and riding along the alpine lake, we’re now heading towards Grossglockner — but we’ll definitely be happy to return someday. Mountain Paradise in Salzburg Province

A paradise in the Austrian state of Salzburg, Zell am See is located along the shores of the Zell Lake and surrounded by mountains like the 2000-metre high Schmittenhöhe. It is an important ski centre in the winter and a hiking and mountain-biking paradise during summer.

The area has been occupied since Roman times, but the village was founded around the year 740 by the order of Bishop Johannes I of Salzburg. The picturesque Old Town includes typical Alpine style buildings, as well as the oldest building of the region, St. Hippolyte's Church. The Austrian area of Zell am See offers a wide range of hotels, B&B’s, apartments, and guest houses.

The leisure centre has a covered pool, a sauna and steam bath, and special facilities for kids. Zell am See is a gateway to the Hohe Tauern National Park, the biggest of the Alps and Austria’s oldest.

    You can see a lot of facilities with the summer card. A lot to do for families ( hiking, cycling, rafting, bathing, swimming, sightseeing,visiting museums ). The food and drinks in restaurants are expensive, so it’s better to have food included in the hotel price or buy it in the store.

    It's the right midpoint between the regions of Leogang and...

    It's the right midpoint between the regions of Leogang and Saalbach-Hinterglemm, if you are into mountain biking, and the Grosser Donnerkogel, if you are into via ferratas. Being in Zell am See gave us the possibility to do multiple things withing a 1h driving radius.

    Zell am See is rightly popular because it is uperbly located on the most beautiful lake, with mountain scenery that changes with the light throughout the day. it is also makes an excellent centre for touring. special mention must be made of the Kaprun Glacier and the Kaprun Reservoir. Simply unmissable.

    Views of the lake with the best mountain backgrounds are from the other end of the lake - the most northerly. We didn't do it, but it looks like a good place to hire bikes or electric bikes to see more of the lakeside.

    Zell am See is a beautiful place and we have stayed there many times over 40 years. We were unaware that the week we chose this trip was a mid season break and nearly all facilities and services in the town were closed. It was like a ghost town, with limited amenities and very few visitors. WHY WERE WE NOT TOLD THIS BY THE HOTEL WHEN WE BOOKED!!!!!!

    Zell is just a 1.5 to 2 hour journey from Salzburg and the train station is conveniently located in the town centre. It's always worth asking at the train station for the ticket that allows you to travel anywhere by train and bus on a Saturday for only £8 per person. Stock up at the Spar at Salzburg station if you're arriving after supermarket closing hours, although the Spar near the Cityxpress stays open until 7pm most days. Due to the height of the mountains the skiing is excellent and when we weren't skiing we made good use of our ski lift pass to visit the Kitzsteinhorn and the walking trail at the top of the Schmittenhohe.

    We liked the welcome, the hosts are charming, schnapps on arrival is a winner, (maybe we were special:)))) the location, and the honesty bar. We like hotels where the locals choose to stay. This is a family run hotel and after staying in a 4 star hotel in Vienna and a 3 star in Salzburg in the same week, we vote the Pension Hubertus as our favourite base. For English travellers it’s the number 10 bus from Salzburg airport to Zell am see and a 1.5hr train ride, easy.

    Great property - almost makes you want to not get out of the hotel at all but zell am see is beautiful and you must. We had an excellent stay here - just wish breakfast was included in the price but that’s asking for too much :) excellent place to stay!
