This hotel was excellent in every way. The rooms were comfortable, the hotel facilities -- including a fabulous spa, sauna and large indoor swimming pool -- were great. I enjoyed staying up late with the wine host doing an Azeri wine tasting. The location of this property right across from Old Town Sheki was excellent: everything one might want to visit within town was within walking distance. And the hotel price for the overall stay was very reasonable. The manager of this hotel was also very nice, and breakfast was a nice spread.

Macara Sheki Hotel is a very clean hotel with very friendly staff. Our room was comfortable with a nice view of the property. Rooms are as pictured.
Bed is a bit firm but still comfortable, with nice linens and pillows. We slept well. The air conditioning worked very well and the wifi was fantastic. The rooms around us appeared to be booked and a large tour group checked in above us but we did not experience any loud noises. The bathroom is very nice. Nice tiling, nice lighting, fresh towels and most important the water pressure and hot water in the shower were great.
Breakfast was definitely sufficient. Omelettes can be made to order. Food always seemed to be replenished. We enjoyed a lunch, a dinner and some drinks on the property outdoors. The restaurant staff are very attentive, professional, courteous and always smiling. Our food was delicious and affordably priced. The indoor dining space is nice. The outdoor dining area is a really nice space. It is nice even just to sit and listen to the birds in the morning.
The staff at the front desk are friendly and courteous. Any questions or requests were not a problem for example, help with bus information or calling a taxi.
It will take about 10min to walk to the centre of the new town and about a 30min walk to the attractions in the old town.
Be sure to walk around the town some, off the regular tourist path, to see more of the local life. You just might find you are greeted by locals or find a little hidden bakery.

A decent place from the busy city life, clean air, amazing weather and lot of greenery and fresh feeling place. Sheki palace was also a good place to visit and so was Karavansarayi. Would definitely recommend a visit. We stayed at Marxal hotel which was just amazing for the budget and the amenities were really good.

Sheki is an amazing city.
Sheki is an amazing city. The following places are a must see,
Xan Sarayi, Karavan Sarayi, and the Albanian church in Kishi.
Try to avoid having food in touristic places. I have noticed that they have a separate menu (Almost 75% more price) for tourists.
Walking is the best way to get around sheki. Take taxi (Make sure you fix the price in advance) to the kishi village.

If you are seeking enjoying great food in the heart of historical places Sheki is the great destination to visit. You can feel in every street, corner the warmness of local people, pleasant weather and rich nature. Though I was there in December the weather was quite warm to walking around and exploring city by foot.

A lush, green place. It can rain at anytime.
Quiet and relaxed.
Friendly people.
Buses, vans and taxis available to move around.
Some areas don't have streetlights so you might want to be careful after sunset, which was around 8:30pm.
Great place to relax, for food, silk, handicrafts and sweets.

Sheki Khan Palace is small and can be finished quickly[6rooms in all]. The walk and the views are worth the visit. The Juma Masjid is good but beware of the keeper asking for tips. You can find such people in every Masjid/place in Azerbeijan. VIP Karavan restorant very reasonable and good. Avoid the bazaar. Albanian Church of Kish is worth a visit. Shopping in Sheki could be avoided since it is tourist destination and hence rates are very high compared to other places.

Sheki can be explored in 2 days (unless you're hiking there too).
Must-see/do:
1. Shah's Summer Palace including fortress walls, Albanian Church & museum. Tip: Buy a combo ticket and it allows access to Shah's Winter Palace too, but only 1 room has been restored there. No photos are allowed in either Palace. Winter Palace is 20 mins walk away down the main road in the Old Town - not easy to find but locals will help.
2. Cemetery and Memorial - we found this gem by chance - hardly mentioned anywhere. Beautiful & peaceful with wonderful views of mountains behind Sheki.
3. The Caravanserai - it's had a lot of restoration work done to it but it's still worth walking around.
4. Walk around the old town's cobbled streets - it's not dazzling but gives an idea of how life goes on in the old part of Sheki.
5. If time, explore the 'newer' part of Sheki - interesting contrast with the old part. If you have a car, take a drive - the scenery around Sheki is stunning in parts.
Good place to eat - the Sheki Palace Restaurant - great Azeri food at good prices - seating inside & outside. Illy Expresso Cafe on the main through road is a cool place to relax for a hot drink - they let you bring in Sheki baclava from next door to enjoy with your drink.
It exceeded our expectations. Wonderful breakfast. The staff is super friendly, the rooms are clean and they provide you with everything and more. Very comfortable beds. The location is awesome. We liked our view from balcony, it was the view to the village (front side of the hotel). They organized amazing set of activities. Our kids were happy there. At evenings we enjoyed the live music. The pool was clean and warm enough. We will definitely visit this place again.
I'd say Ruh Achari is the best option in Sheki if you're looking for peace and warm Sheki vibe. It's around 200 years old building with newly restored facilities where you'll see art and azerbaijani spirit all around which author is Mrs. Arzu, the owner. Surrounded by the Caucasus mountains and located 960m above sea level in Kish village, you'll feel the fresh air and taste local cuisine.
Thanks to Arzu that made our stay better than we expected.
We start every New Year with a trip to Marhal Resort & Spa. Every time we find ourselves in a wonderful, friendly atmosphere. Over the course of six years, we have never changed our opinion about this hotel. Everything is great, deserves 10 points. It has everything we need, namely a clean swimming pool, delicious breakfasts, karaoke, bowling and other sports. The service is always top notch. Special thanks to the girls from VIP and Tural.
*Staff were friendly, engaging and spoke excellent English. They were very accommodating in opening the bar for us to have a bottle of wine when we returned from dinner one evening.
*The room was simple but clean (fridge and kettle provided). Air con was effective.
*Decent location (Bolt is very cheap in Sheki so it's easier to get around)
*WiFi was reliable
*Overall, great value at less than £50 a night
The hotel is a chalet on the outskirts of Sheki. The owners are a charming middle-aged couple who grow their own fruit trees and make their own local and natural products. The rooms are large, comfortable and have plenty of space and an outdoor garden for guests. They offer their own food and excellent homemade products for a very low price.
Loved absolutely EVERYTHING about my stay. The only drawback is that I only stayed here for one night… I wish I stayed longer! Shabnam was super welcoming and helpful throughout the stay. The room, garden, location and facilities were wonderful. I am looking forward to my next trip to Sheki which will definitely go with another stay here!
I really liked the hospitality of the hotel staff, especially Asim. The property is luxurious, has a very good restaurant, location is very peaceful. Overall, a good value for money for your stay in Sheki. The hotel also provides day trip taxi facility to Gabala, so you can opt for it if you want.
We spent 2 nights in Ilgar’s guesthouse.
Our stay was agreeable:
Room was big with private bathroom and the guesthouse was 5 minutes walking from the city centre of old Sheki.
Ilgar prepared breakfast with homemade gem and fresh products.
I recommend it ! 😊
Walking distance from old town and Sheki khans palace. Good rooms with city view. Neat clean and very good staff. Good variety at breakfast. Heated swimming pool. All in all a very good hotel to stay in Sheki.
Great hotel for it’s price! The room was very clean and comfortable as well as the bathroom. The food in hotel’s restaurant is very delicious for a reasonable price. The complimentary breakfast is great.
The staff is just great! Extremely friendly and helpful!
The location is right in the centre of Sheki.
The hostel has a great Café. The food is very good.
