Location. Close to Main Street for boutique stores, restaurants etc. 10 minute walk to beach. Large kitchen and dining area inside and outside. Quiet street. Curfew observed in the hostel so no noise at night.
Noisy air conditioning when on high. No supermarket within walking distance. Room G more spacious than others but a bit shabby.
All the staff and other people staying here we're so friendly. Was a great value and location, only steps from the downtown core and minutes from the beach. I would stay here again for sure!
Friendly staff, very clean, good location, great price for what you get.
Tiny bathroom, shower upstairs not fully functional if other taps/showers are on downstairs and it alternates between very cold/scalding hot water.
Location was close to downtown & Lake Okanagan, getting to shower after camping was a godsend. Inexpensive price, adequate lockers, super friendly staff were very accommodating when I checked in late. The building was old but quaint. Most of my room-mates were considerate and ran on the same schedule as I did, intimate rooms housing 6 people, felt secure as the dorms had locks on them. Had a small library, where you could take a book/leave a book, which was really neat. Large kitchen and dining area.
Kind of dirty, my sheets and blankets had hair all over them, when I couldn't sleep I went into the living room for a bit but the couches were pretty dirty and covered in dirt or crumbs. No air conditioning, just a fan, but the room wasn't in direct sunlight so it wasn't terrible. Some guests would leave the front door unlocked when it was after hours. Minimal space in the 3 refrigerators and they weren't kept very clean. There was an entertainment room in the basement with a VHS and TV but it wasn't an appealing place and a little too musty for me to spend any time there. Could use new furniture.
The hotel is well located and the people are kind. The city is very beautiful.
Our room was near the shared bathroom and the noise was constant. I suggest adapting the door with a rubber to soften.
Very comfortable. I enjoyed a private room with shared bath. Staff are wonderful. Quiet time strictly enforced so no noise at night. Very clean.
Kitchen facilities were great and staff were friendly.
They put me in Room D (by the kitchen) which I specifically requested not be in as I'd read the reviews prior to booking. Room D was very noisy, there was no air-con, and it was quite stuffy. Bed was also uncomfortable. Other rooms seemed better.
Our private room was quiet & cool, bed was comfortable and hostel situation was perfect for connecting with our cycling group. Staff was very helpful Thank you
Can't think of any thing !!
I liked the access to the Kitchen, the space available in the private room, the cleanliness and maintenance of the facility.
The walls between rooms are "paper thin", which caused a problem when the couple next to us had domestic difficulties. As there was no night manager on duty, the problem escalated. An upgrade of the sound proofing, and a way to get hold of a manager during the night would help.
It is a nice Hostel in downtown. Nice open area in the back to chill.
There is only 1 bathroom for all the dorms, so if the hostell is crowded be aware. Also there is no one at the office for 1 to 5pm, so if you arrive at these times you better find another place to chill until 5pm.
Staff was friendly, location was great, huge kitchen and eating area. Wifi worked great, had a huge dorm to myself. Great women's bathroom, although single (it might be a problem if a bunch of women were staying here at the same time).
Nothing. I will stay here when I return to Penticton.
Always meeting cool people; travellers with stories to tell.
You can meet people from all over the world and have pleasant talks here.
The friendliness of the people, the staff and the visitors so far been great...and I really enjoy their company.
The inter-net is at times slow...
I forgot what it was like to meet people from all over and share in their lives for a short time.
I'm 54 and was in a private room but forgot the hostel dorm experience with young people next door to me.
great rock climbing at skaha bluffs
would've liked own room and bathroom but too expensive especially for hostel facilities
staff helpfull, friendly, good for the money
small rooms, could be cleaner all windows to open and have clean screans, curtains torn. Suggest reorganization of rooms, perhaps remove a closet wall to make more space in room in rm B, join others rooms via contecting door.

staff and location
the location of our "private room", in-between the patio and kitchen where people were chatting and using the blenders at 5am. The curtains were pretty much see through so no actual privacy in the private room. We booked 2 private rooms and cancelled one for our friends and for whatever reason the better of the 2 rooms got cancelled. We booked for 3 nights and cancelled the following 2 nights at the hostel.
> Proximity to Greyhound and the Lake
> No charging stations/ports in the dorm rooms (or at a very inconvenient place).
Good location. The room and bathroom were clean.
