Score from 238 reviews Very good
Friendliness, complete comfort, fine breakfast, and close to theatre.
Only drawback is lots of steps..not a problem for us.
Location, comfort and cleanliness was excellent.
Receptionist told us it was OK to park outside as no parking restriction in force . We had a ticket .
I was expecting much better for a boutique hotel. There was no robe or refrigerator, no safe----nothing. I woke up in the night & looked for a thermometer for heat & there was none! No heat, no air conditioning! Perhaps because I was traveling alone I was given the worst room on the inn? I found out that none of the rooms in that part of the inn had a thermostat.
Decor was nice, staff were super friendly, rooms clean, decent breakfast, restaurant onsite, very convenient location--walkable to excellent coffee, museums, shops, and great wine and food. Price was decent, too. Despite noise issues, we would probably stay here again.
Because it is a boutique hotel/repurposed housing, noise is an issue--that coming from the onsite restaurant itself which has no door closing off the noise, as well as that coming from the blues bar behind the hotel late into the night (our room was on the second floor, on the back side facing the blues bar where there was music playing late into the night on Friday and Saturday during our stay. We didn't ask to move our room though as we were already so much unpacked after already bring there two nights prior. We did hear other guests complaining of noise and asking to be moved one morning though.
very quaint excellent complimentary breakfast central location - within walking distance of everywhere we needed to go friendly, accommodating staff
street noise from bar patrons fire trucks responding to fire across the road from the hotel - twice very early in the morning room on top floor at back of building may have been quieter
Location is excellent and staff is helpful. Breakfast is good.
Wifi did not work for most of my stay, as I was there on business this was a problem. Since the building is very old it was also very noisy, I could hear everything that went on in the building. Though the hotel is nice, I would not recommend it for business travelers
Bar next door very noisy. Loud music played until 2am.
Parking off street
Having to carry luggage up and down steep narrow stairs and accommodation spread throughout 3 different unconnected buildings.
Room was tired: peeling paint on bathroom ceiling; poor lighting in room
Friendly helpful staff, excellent location, delicious breakfast, nice old-style decor, good price
We were given an attic room, so I had to be careful not to bump my head. Bathroom tiny, but efficient.
Warm atmosphere Concierge was very helpful Wonderful breakfast Fabulous dinner
We liked our room (#104) but the bed was not comfortable-sagged in the middle-and I could hear voices and kitchen noises until late (11pm).
The lovely owners - Heather & Thomas. You felt like our friends after 3 wonderful days in your company. Location - an easy 10 minute stroll to all amenities. Wonderful homely atmosphere in a gorgeous period building. The pool on a warm afternoon. Freezer jam !
Nothing at all.
good downtown location excellent staff and service wonderful rooms good morning breakfast
nothing at all - no bar but wine, beers available on request in the library
Centrally located. Good access to waterfront. Very comfortable room. A quality breakfast served.
We did not manage to eat in the restaurant.
Stylish appointments. Staff was helpful and friendly. The location near the waterfront was great for walking tours and restaurants.
Breakfast was OK
Old facility in dire need of upgrade. Air conditioning did not work, bathroom door hanging off its hinges, shower curtain rod falling down, mold in the bathroom. Choose another hotel.
Bed comfortable Shampoo and soap!
Had to walk up 39 stairs with luggage Bathroom floor slick as oil-almost fell Little space to put things in bathroom TV reception poor Outside steps not good
The location is good - close to waterfront, and even a relatively short walk to the Public Gardens &'North End. Basis continental breakfast.
I don't think of a "boutique" hotel being just a bit over the hill and old. Rooms are quite small. Uneven steps here and there create a tripping hazard. Bathroom smelled a bit musty. Very outdated bathroom amenities. No independent heating/AC controls in room. Parking "lot" nearby is a very tight fit for larger cars and would be very muddy if it rains. For the price I'd expect a more modern stay.
Location to waterfront. Our room in the second building (3 townhouses ) good and spacious.
Stairs. Musty smelling room and halls. difficulty getting walker up and in between series of doors. No ramps anywhere
Comfortable and personal.
Friendly staff, good location and good dining option
Didn't realise that our room was annexed from main building and fronted busy road, rather noisy
Loved our room. Spacious with an extra alcove and bed No elevator so pack lightly. Great fun restaurants nearby and of course the wharf and Pier 21
No elevators. Front desk person did not give us message from another hotel guest.
Friendly staff Old quaint house but up to date, just remember to watch your step entering and exiting your room
Narrow parking spots
Location. Breakfast. Good bed.
Didn't like is not fair, but the furniture needs updating. Saggy sofa. Tired chair covers.
Staff very friendly; good location; good dinner restaurant,
breakfast was average; rooms were not outstanding
