The setting is magnificant and in itself worth the trip. Reception was welcoming and services attentive.
dining(Muses) was a bit slow and the menu not flexible enough. The table d'hote was required and the food, while above average, was not exceptional.
We loved the room. Simple, clean and everything you need in a room. The love music in the bar (Phil Jenkins) was a highlight. The atmosphere of the place was incredibly romantic and magical. The hot tub with the snow falling down around us was beautiful.
The quality of the food at the restaurants was adequate. With the exception of Joliane and her colleague at the front desk, the staff was unimpressed and occasionally surly.
Style, environment, atmosphere.
Sound of working heater was to loud. I needed the refrigerator in my room. I am a smoker, and would prefer to have a room on the first floor, closer to the entrance (smoking place).
- The general feeling of the place combined with the charms of Wakefield makes it a great change of scenery and a very relaxing getway. - The "Discovery" menu for supper is an enchantment for the senses!
- This is definitely on the expensive side of the scale; still, to indulge and savour the moment, it is well worth it !
Rustic setting and quality building construction made the visit enjoyable.
The Falls were beautiful - the fireplace in the bar was much enjoyed and served well to shake off the cold weather.
Room was average - unfortunately we were kept awake by the neighboring room. HVAC (heater and AC) unit was very loud - too loud to use while sleeping.
What a lovely getaway tucked in he forest against a picturesque setting with the falls. You walk into a cozy atmosphere greeted by warm staff and you just know this is a special place. The room was lovely and the food amazing and the service beyond expectations. The culture in Quebec is unique and special and everywhere we went in town you just felt like you were welcome. It was a wonderful experience and we will be back again.
The room always seemed to be chilly for some reason. The noise above our room was annoying as there were little children staying there. Would have appreciated less jumping up and down late in the evenings.
Outdoor hot tub next to the waterfall was wonderful. Beautiful views of autumn leaves from the room. Good meal in the bistro, overlooking the waterfall. Great base for enjoying the charm of Wakefield or hiking in the park.
Location Ambiance Friendly staff Lounge with the fireplace and wing back chairs Food was very good Menu was a bit too overdone- Teenage lettuce? not quite so flowery please.
First impression of the room. marks on walls and paint worn off in certain places . - Made the room look tired, and could be easily remedied by removing marks and touching up the paint as needed. Slow service. Longest I have waited for a meal in my life. Admittedly I ordered rack of lamb well done. However order took forever. Realize there was a function on, but at those prices it was not our concern.we had to cancel our other plans. Soup was excellent. Constant hum in the bedroom from the air vent, even though heat and air was turned off. Servers were not making eye contact and seemed to forget you, had to ask to have my soup plate removed after quite a while. Servers appear cordial and polite but in need of more training for the market you want to appeal to. Even when we had the coffee in the afternoon, I had to go over to the bar to get more attention The complimentary coffee was a lovely surprise. Note that other people have commented to us about the slow service for the prices charged. Overall it is a great location and Inn. Very good contributor to the local economy, for that reason I wish you well and hope you take my comments in the good nature in which they are given in order to get repeat guests and good press as a place one would like to revisit. Sincerely, Geoff. Lloyd ( I spent 45 years in the business)
Table d Hote meal was fabulous - one of the best meals I've ever eaten! Beautiful setting on the falls.! Very nice breakfast included .
Room amenities vary, from one to another. Smaller rooms are lacking basic equipment such as luggage racks, bathroom fan. full length or magnifying mirror, seating, etc. A bar fridge would be a nice addition to any room, too. Carpets very soiled in public areas.
Dinner and the service was very good. Our spa treatments (massage and facial) were excellent.
The newer rooms are a bit stark and cold. They dont have much personality. I nice area carpet would help. They dont tell you when you book that you will have to take stairs to get to your room which was a problem for me.
The bathroom had paint coming down from the cellings! The questS above us were walking the whole night and we couldn't sleep, next door room , the baby was screaming, no sound isolation, I slept in the train station and the room was 200$ with no breakfast. Dinner was very expensive with only table the dot option only for 60$!
Spa was really nice!
I could never tire of the view & tranquil places to sit outside. The food in the dinning room was first rate!
Rooms were rustic & had potential. I would have liked to see a better sitting area. The chairs are old and dated. A lovely place, but still a bit over priced based on the room.
The location is fantastic and I loved going to sleep hearing the sound of the water flowing through the gorge.
The food at the Inn was overpriced and my friend's dinner on Tuesday night was totally substandard. We ate at Chez Eric on Wednesday evening and the dining experience there was far superior to that of the Inn. There was no fridge in the room and we had brought a few snacks which required refrigeration. Also, while there were a couple of extra sheets, there were no extra blankets and I had to have the young woman at the front desk go searching for a blanket at about 11:00 PM on our first night.
The breakfast wasn't as great as I thought it would be. The way the items were described on the menu sounded appealing, but when our breakfast arrived it was almost inedible. The buckwheat crepes were as think as pancakes and the proscutto was cut thick like Lardon and I had to pick out each bit. The quiche was way over done and dry. Too bad cause everything else was great. But when breakfast is the last think you have before leaving it kind of sticks with you. Won't be eating there again.
The ambience of the Inn is wonderful.
This was not my first time at the Inn. I really enjoyed my stay. The only area where I feel there could be improvement would be in the service in the dining rooms. Both times, I found that the service was not at a level that one would expect, given the price. Perhaps it is because the staff are local uoung people sho have not been given adequate training. However, I will say that the restaurant staff were very friendly and I would certainly return.
lovely stay and rooms
front desk took more than 30 minutes to deal with a blocked toilet, some amenities like wall-mounted shampoo dispenser were too down-market for a hotel of this calibre Our room was cozy and comfortable but poorly designed -- no towel bar near sink, a sloping roof near bed that bopped my husband -- a little better design might have helped, even though obviously, it's an old mill, not a new hotel
Over priced. You pay for the location not the facilities or service.
Too expensive for less comfort. The room didn't have any comfort. The floor had scratch all over the place and looked dirty. I wasn't impressed at all. I asked for quiet room I got a very noisy one by the river; i couldn't sleep.
Being charged for local phone calls
upgrade very modern great bed
smallish bathroom confusing 'goodies' basket with price list no bar fridge having to go to bar for ice
Restaurant - had a mid afternoon snack and dinner. The service was outstanding . Ver welcoming staff.
The old stone building, the room nicely decorated, dining overlooking the waterfall
Hot tub wasn't very warm and was too far from main building, need more common spaces- besides the bar- if all the seats near the fireplace were taken, there was no other comfy seating
nice location beside river beautiful dining lounge / bar area
I got food poisoning with breakfast one day. the village was not as good as expected
Everything was wonderful.thank you
