Dinner and the service was very good. Our spa treatments (massage and facial) were excellent.
The newer rooms are a bit stark and cold. They dont have much personality. I nice area carpet would help. They dont tell you when you book that you will have to take stairs to get to your room which was a problem for me.
The bathroom had paint coming down from the cellings! The questS above us were walking the whole night and we couldn't sleep, next door room , the baby was screaming, no sound isolation, I slept in the train station and the room was 200$ with no breakfast. Dinner was very expensive with only table the dot option only for 60$!
Spa was really nice!
I could never tire of the view & tranquil places to sit outside. The food in the dinning room was first rate!
Rooms were rustic & had potential. I would have liked to see a better sitting area. The chairs are old and dated. A lovely place, but still a bit over priced based on the room.
The location is fantastic and I loved going to sleep hearing the sound of the water flowing through the gorge.
The food at the Inn was overpriced and my friend's dinner on Tuesday night was totally substandard. We ate at Chez Eric on Wednesday evening and the dining experience there was far superior to that of the Inn. There was no fridge in the room and we had brought a few snacks which required refrigeration. Also, while there were a couple of extra sheets, there were no extra blankets and I had to have the young woman at the front desk go searching for a blanket at about 11:00 PM on our first night.
The breakfast wasn't as great as I thought it would be. The way the items were described on the menu sounded appealing, but when our breakfast arrived it was almost inedible. The buckwheat crepes were as think as pancakes and the proscutto was cut thick like Lardon and I had to pick out each bit. The quiche was way over done and dry. Too bad cause everything else was great. But when breakfast is the last think you have before leaving it kind of sticks with you. Won't be eating there again.
The ambience of the Inn is wonderful.
This was not my first time at the Inn. I really enjoyed my stay. The only area where I feel there could be improvement would be in the service in the dining rooms. Both times, I found that the service was not at a level that one would expect, given the price. Perhaps it is because the staff are local uoung people sho have not been given adequate training. However, I will say that the restaurant staff were very friendly and I would certainly return.
lovely stay and rooms
front desk took more than 30 minutes to deal with a blocked toilet, some amenities like wall-mounted shampoo dispenser were too down-market for a hotel of this calibre Our room was cozy and comfortable but poorly designed -- no towel bar near sink, a sloping roof near bed that bopped my husband -- a little better design might have helped, even though obviously, it's an old mill, not a new hotel
Over priced. You pay for the location not the facilities or service.
Too expensive for less comfort. The room didn't have any comfort. The floor had scratch all over the place and looked dirty. I wasn't impressed at all. I asked for quiet room I got a very noisy one by the river; i couldn't sleep.
Being charged for local phone calls
upgrade very modern great bed
smallish bathroom confusing 'goodies' basket with price list no bar fridge having to go to bar for ice
Restaurant - had a mid afternoon snack and dinner. The service was outstanding . Ver welcoming staff.
The old stone building, the room nicely decorated, dining overlooking the waterfall
Hot tub wasn't very warm and was too far from main building, need more common spaces- besides the bar- if all the seats near the fireplace were taken, there was no other comfy seating
nice location beside river beautiful dining lounge / bar area
I got food poisoning with breakfast one day. the village was not as good as expected
Everything was wonderful.thank you
The hotel was beautiful, clean and quiet. The service was excellent. It is easy to tell that the staff take pride in this hotel. The location was perfect for a romantic getaway. We will be back.
Every thing was perfect from the warm welcoming of the receptionists to the professional service of the waiters. Excellent service, delicious breakfast buffet, clean and confortable room, nice outdoor whirlpool. All this in a beautiful setting!
Live music at the wine bar was too loud and didn't provide a relaxing atmosphere. We were sitting in the solarium room and all I wanted was a quiet evening with my husband. If I was after Gordon Lightfoot I would have gone to the Black Sheep. Maybe some quiet jazz would better suit?
Rooms were comfortable, clean Our dining experience was wonderful.
We liked the the location, close to the village and the ski hills. The property is picturesque.
We had asked for a room with a bath tub but ours only had a stand-up shower. We are sure there were rooms with soaker tubs available upstairs, however, the staff said there were not. Also, the outdoor hot tub area could use a few ash trays. There were many cigarette butts strewn in the rock gardens around the tub.
We stayed in the new EcoLodge and really enjoyed our privacy. The room was exceptional!
First of all, the Wakefield Inn and Spa is fabulous, but normally expensive. We were able to go because of the great rate we got from Booking.com. Can you send me a link to some of your deals? Staff at the Inn are very helpful and nice.
The Mill is a busy place with lots of people. We love using the hot tub, but it has only two small hot tubs. It would be nice if there were more or bigger ones.
What an amazing location! The old mill is beautiful and the owners have really taken advantage of the natural beauty of the area. The accommodations were clean, comfortable and perfect for the weekend. For example the bed was amazingly comfortable (normally, I don't sleep well in hotel beds but this was the exception!) The outdoor hot tub was a great extra perk and an excellent way to warm up after a Ski through Gatineau park!
We noticed the first time we used the outdoor hot tub that the change room was out of towels. Also one of the two hot tubs wasn't working when we first checked in due to the extremely cold weather. Other than those minor points no complaints!
Excellent accommodation. Beautiful scenery and good amenities. Very quiet surrounds which allowed for a good night sleep.
Wi-Fi was slow.
Gorgeous location and views. Relaxing. Amazing food. Clean, beautiful rooms. Perfect romantic getaway.
